Levinson 360 versus 36S
I faced the same decision about two years ago, and Idecided to go with the 360. It has the 24/96 upgradewhich I thought was more significant than the upgradedmotherboard of the 36S. Additionally it has the benefitof newer technology which in digit...
Madrigal is Closed
Inna, on what do you base your statement "There arebetter companies"? Have you owned Madrigal equipment?I have owned a number of pieces of Mark Levinson gear, and I have always found the construction quality beyondreproach. You can criticize them f...
Entry-level speakers
I'd consider a used pair of Soliloquy 5.0 monitors.I sold a pair about 2 years ago for about $425 withoutthe optional stands. They are very musical, obviouslywith limited low frequency extension, but outstandingimaging and soundstaging.
ML37 vs. Oracle cd1000
I can't speak to the Oracle, however I'm using aLevinson #37 with the ML 360 DAC and it's an excellent, synergistic combination: dynamic, detailed, solid bass, not harsh. The #37 is asignificant improvement over the EAD T-1000 transportI had previo...
Solid state amp ultimate stop...

Amp Suggestions
Levinson 335 or 336. Excellent control, spacioussoundstage, neutral, dynamic. Mates well withmy Magnepans.
Best bang-for-buck purchase you have made?
Denon 103D.......had one I bought in Japan in 1984,sold it, and bought two new ones 18 years later.Best cartridge under $1000, and better than somemore expensive than that.

There has been a gentleman advertising custom madeplexiglass covers for turntables and such on one ofthe newsgroups. Sorry, but I can't be more specific. However, I remember seeing some photos of his workand it looked decent.
mark levinson 26 and 32

Aleph Owners - Temp issues ?? 90F
I had an Aleph 5 for a few years. Nice amp, but iftemperature is a concern, I'd look elsewhere. TheAleph amps get toasty even in a cool room.
Amp shopping - recommendations anyone?
Both the Levinson 27.5 and 23.5 are under $3000 used, and are very impressive. I've owned the 27.5 and foundit smooth, with expansive soundstage, solid bass andexcellent transient response. The 23.5 is similar withgreater power output, though I thi...
Digital Room Correction: The Final Frontier?
With an A-to-D converter option, the TacT units WILLwork with vinyl. I'm using my vinyl system that way. And, it works beautifully. I've got Magnepan 1.6QRspeakers, and I use Room Lens clones behind them forgreater diffusion, but the TacT RCS 2.0 i...
What's up with the analog "echo" phenomenon?
It's called pre-echo, and in not uncommon on vinylrecordings. The stylus is reading loud passages onthe adjacent inside groove. On tape, an echo is frequently due to print-through.The magnetic tape, when it sits tightly wound, prints through the mag...
Pass Labs 2.5 or Mark Levinson 26
I used a Levinson 26 and 27.5 together, and it was anice combination: expansive soundstage, detailed yetnonfatiguing, dynamic. The 26 is an excellent preamp.
