Anvil Turntables Alloy Convertible turntable with new magnetic footer
The website is down. I think Bruce is still in the game but I have not checked in with him in a while. Hopefully he responds to this thread! I love my Anvil TT!
Fidelity Research 64s vs Jelco SA-750e
I owned both the Jelco 750D (9-inch) and the FR-64S played with my RSP. The Jelco was tweaked with the old TTW VTA collar which, like the B-60 base, adds even more weight to the arm. The FR-64S was without the B-60 Base. Head shells were Yamamoto ...
PASS LABS XO.2 Preamplifier 3 Chassis or Pass Labs XP-10
Hi @jahatl513.  I recently upgraded to a Pass XP-22 from a XP-10 which I enjoyed for over 6 years.  There should be more XP-10 and 20s available now that the newer models are out.  I have not listened to the older X units but can say that the XP-1...
Curious what people think is the best "value" high end speaker (~5K to 15K)
I currently use Vandersteen Quatros but I used to have Legacy Focus SE.  That speaker sounds amazing at high volumes and is not difficult to drive.  Also not very fussy about sweet spots or placement.  Love the way electric guitar sounds on the Le...
SAT Comparison
Although I am in no way interested in purchasing said tonearms due to cost, it was fun to listen to these tracks and there are differences that I could hear with my computer audio headphone setup. I think the digitization affects the sound but doe...
FR66s vs Ikeda IT-407 CR tonearms
Sad to hear it.  RIP Osamu Ikeda.
KOETSU ROSEWOOD DILEMMA
I believe $450 would be the price if nothing else is wrong with the cartridge. Extra can be added to the cost if Peter needs to spend hours repairing the suspension or dampening mechanism for example. For the OP, it would probably be just $450.  @...
KOETSU ROSEWOOD DILEMMA
@lewm I most certainly will put some more hours on the cartridge and feedback.  But my initial impression is that the cantilever/stylus that SS uses for Koetsu repairs (and the work Peter did to put Humpty Dumpty back together again) allows the in...
Does anything better Jelco arm ~$1000
I own both a Jelco 750D and an Audiomods Series V.  They are both excellent arms for a reasonable prices. I tend to use lower compliance cartridges on the Jelco.  The Jelco also has the headshell factor to account for. In my system the Audiomods d...
KOETSU ROSEWOOD DILEMMA
@terry9 @sturgus  Just a little follow up.  Peter Ledermann at SoundSmith called me after inspecting the damage to my newish RSP.  Evidently, the house cleaner not only snapped off the cantilever, but also bent the aluminum cantilever mounting pil...
Nature of Koetsu carts
I would not describe the Koetsu sound as "samey" or homogenizing.  They have a very dynamic sound, 3D imaging, never fatiguing.  I agree that Koetsu's have a special presentation of midrange but it only emphasizes the musical information that othe...
KOETSU ROSEWOOD DILEMMA
Its true that if you want SS to perform your repair you have to be patient. I'm on week 13 (but who's countinng?) since they received my cartridge and have not heard a thing.  However, they indicate that non SS cart repairs average 8-14 weeks wait...
KOETSU ROSEWOOD DILEMMA
@terry9 Thanks!  I will look into that. Lord knows one has plenty of waiting time before SS gets to your repair.
KOETSU ROSEWOOD DILEMMA
My recently acquired RSP was killed by a run in with a duster when I was out of town.  Snapped the cantilever clean off.  I called Music Direct (where it was purchased) to get it rebuilt by Koetsu. $4200.  I called SoundSmith who has done hundreds...
FR 64s tone arm lift servicing
@lbelchev that is the one!  Thanks for the link.
