| This is for Georgehifi especially but others can chime in. I had wonderful sound on my older model C1s with a Pass X250.5. It was a perfect match. Now, I would like to hear them with Octave amplification as well who is distributed by Dynaudio NA of course. | |
| Your Thoughts on the BAT VK-3i I had the 5i, 50SE, 31SE, and 51SE.The 31SE was the best value. I thought the 5i was overly warm and the frequency extremes ill-defined. I should have rolled tubes, but its a lot of $ for NOS. | |
| Zu def 4 are they the best speaker made? Bache is posting measurements from 2002 that don't even work right (the speaker was lifted in air despite a downward firing port).at least use Stereophiles more recent ones:https://www.stereophile.com/content/zu-audio-soul-supreme-loudspeaker-meas... | |
| Which one is the best INTEGRATED!! DarTZeel is the best I've ever heard. For tube, I believe Vac is updating their Sigma. | |
| Wilson Audio Sophia 3 vs Watt Puppy 7 I always thought the W/P 7 was bright. The Sophia was a better speaker to me except in the lowest bass extension. It also didn't have the coherency issues. Ymmv. | |
| What do you consider the most musical speakers—$15000 & under I'd say brands associated with tone include Sonus Faber, Harbeth, Devore Fidelity, Dynaudio, Tannoy, and Zu Audio. | |
| For tube sound, which is more important: preamp or power amp? The tube power amp provides more of the "magic" | |
| Tube amp for Zu Omen I would try Quad Classic iis or an Almarro A205 I prefer Melody to Line Magnetic, but ymmv. | |
| Arc Ref 75se vs D'Agostino Momentum Stereo Dev- do you prefer the ARC combo vs. SET on your AGs (presume you have Duo XDs now?). I've always enjoyed following your experiences from your Vac/MBL days... | |
| Would an ARC Ref 6 be a good match for a VTL S200? I'd probably demo a VTL preamp first. | |
| Arc Ref 75se vs D'Agostino Momentum Stereo So you received a *replacement* Ref 75SE and are going to sell it? Sounds like ARC went above and beyond normal expectations.I have a Ref 75SE with no problems after several thousand hours. I would make sure the unit isn't enclosed in a rack or so... | |
| 2017 ‘Keeper’ speakers under - $25K Blindjim- I auditioned both at length and prefer the more "modern" sound of the Gibbon Xs vs the Orangutans. Particularly in the bass, which I feel is a bit loose on the Os for my tastes in music. I also do not like SET amplification, so the extra... | |
| 2017 ‘Keeper’ speakers under - $25K I went through this exercise last year - Devore Gibbon Xs the winner | |
| Top integrated with MC phono section Used Dart cth-8550 is within your budget. I preferred it to the Luxman 590ax in my system at the time. For Vac, would wait until iq version comes out. | |
| Upgrade Quandary: Ref 75SE vs Ref 150 (non SE) ARC also uses Maggies, which isn't a match with the Ref75SE |
