A trick with Scotch Whisky
Ed,I used to only drink my scotch neat, until my first visit to Cadenhead's in London...The younger son laughed at me for trying the 62.8% (yes percent, not proof!) single cask neat and told me "aye, you're in a place where we know how to drink ou...
A trick with Scotch Whisky
I'll skip that trick as I don't like my scotchs t be too smokey..I have taken a liking to the Abelour 15, and bought their upper level scotch, but haven't had a chance to open it yet as I'm waiting for the kitchen to be done to 'celebrate'
whats your idea of loud music.
Joe,FWIW I am in your camp.My stereo must be able to reproduce LOUD music for sustained periods. I have several different speakers that run from 89 DB/W/m to less, and I find my 250 WPC Proceed HPA's to be light.... If I had my way I'd run much mo...
What is the difference
I beleive the AVP+6 has a 5.1 channel analog input, though I could be off.FWIW If you don't need a MC input, I would buy a PAV/PDSD... they sound far better.
What can I expect in a UPS damage claim?
1) Them to do everything they can NOT to pay.2) If only one speaker is damaged, they will only cover one.3) If the packaging didn't meet 'UPS standards' they won't pay at all.Sorry for the bleak outlook, but good luck!

What other hobby or hobbies do you have?
Hobby or obsession???I love to cook, ride my road bicycle (knees won't handle mountain riding any more...) Love fast cars, and apparently spending money as no matter how much I make I seem to come out even..... I collect watches and good old 35 mm...
Rush fans on the board ??
I would have a tought time with three of them...Fly by Night was the first Rush album I ever heard, and it is great, but I also love Hemispheres and the self titled Rush.If I was pushed to rate them, Fly By Night would get my first vote, for me, M...
Move to NYC Apt -- Vandersteen 3A Speaker Woes
I agree with all the prior, NYC is a great place... I grew up there, well actually in northern Jersey, but spent most of my free time there. I also agree I wouldn't sell anything until you are there. I would warn you about the subs though, I met m...
Is the EMM DAC6e or DCC2 /CDSD the best out there?
Essentialaudio,As I said, I haven't had the chance to hear the Reiymo yet, but have heard many good things about it. For now I am not in that market yet.... so it is somewhat f a mute point.
Is the EMM DAC6e or DCC2 /CDSD the best out there?
I haven't heard the Reiymo, but have A-B's the EMM vs the DCS stack and to my ears their was no comparison, the EMM was far superior. Haven't yet heard the AA Prestige, but if I had the $$ I would buy the EMM Labs without hesitation... Unfortunate...
Best sounding SACD disc?
FWIW I use Elton John Goobye Yellowbrick Road on SACD for a demo alot..... The SACD is a huge step up from the original recording.
Universal Players: Video Quality?
Dbld,My experience with the Esoteric is just the opposite. I had the DV-50, and had it upgraded, and found the picture to have a much more detailed display via DVI, almost adding a three dimensionality to the picture on the 61" Samsung DLP RPTV.Ken
Thoughts on Plasma, LCD, DLP and which way to go
I am surprised noone mentioned the new JVC D-ILA sets. three chip, native 1920x1080, and available in 56"-70". One of my partners just got the 61" for $2400. 18" deep, and really an impressive TV.
Acurus or Parasound
I would go with the Parasound as well, havine had Parasound, Acurus A250, and Aragon 4004 MK II, the Parasound house sound is more to my liking. The Acurus amps are a little harsh in the upper mids and highs, and yes the 'run down' when you turn i...
