Snell B-Minors: What works best?
Sean, you are right, I must correct myself and say I disagree with Neil,Snell's work well with Levinson gear to my ear. FWIW I don't particularly like Theil, so we obviously have somewhat different tastes in sound..... guess that comes back to the...
Snell B-Minors: What works best?
I agree with Ncarv, a very good friend has the Snell B's powered by a Levinson 27.5, nice combo.
Universal Remotes for hifi components?
I would suggest you look at the harmony Remotes, www.harmonyremote.com They are easy to use, you set them up on line and they can custom configure it for anything you want. Mine controls my Linn Pre/Pro and Esoteric DV-50 without any problems, it'...
Opinions on Linn Unidisk
FWIW I had a Unidisc 2.1 and DV-50 in my system for a few weeks. The DV-50 has much better bass, while the unidisc is somewhat more musical, more of that Linn sound. I personaly like that sound, but had to agree with the wife the DV-50 just was mor...
CD Player or New Format?
I'd get an Esoteric DV-50. This player does redbook amazingly, and does ALL other formats you could fity in there, and will soon have a DVI video output upgrade from TEAC. I'ts been rviewed by many mags/people, and almost all love it, some just re...
help me to build...
I would skip Plasma and LCD if you want bang for the buck and need a TV, get a DLP. The LCD/Plasmas are way to pricey still, and likely always will be more than the RP DLP's (which do fast action better than either of the other two IMHO) and a DLP...
EAD TM 8000 or Theta Casablanca I standart dacs
Do you want multichannel inputs?? If so, the theta won't work for you, if you do, the EAD is a nice piece, though the multichannel input will use 6 or 8 analog ins.....
If Thiel, Wilson, Sonus, made active speakers?????
Exertflutter,Yes, I am happy, I loved going active with the fronts in my HT so much that I ultimately went active all around and can't look back! Full size speakers for surrounds, active might seem like overkill, and I know the wiring is a nightma...
What sub do "U" use ?
Linn AV 5150.....beauty and a beast!
If Thiel, Wilson, Sonus, made active speakers?????
Well, FWIW YES! I already have as I run a fully active Linn HT system. Just to set the record straight, there are some downsides.1) Cost. I run 14 channels of amplification for a 5 speaker set up (OK the sub has another, but most do so I left this...
Active speaker, the future? or another fad?
Linn has had Active systems for a long time now. I am one who owns one and can say the step up from passive, even passive tri-amped to active was huge! That said, my system is incredibly cumbersome to dismantel and reassemble, which I unfortunatel...
SACD - Dying already?
Slappy, I fear you might be right.I fear it as I have recenty dove into the high res format thing and LOVE them! I do find some discs (usually SACD and DVD-A are grouped together) in some local chains, fewer in the local shops.... I have always wo...
New to SACD--so what do I buy?
How about Elton John's " Good Bye Yellow Brick Road" and for something 'different' I'd highly recomend Dr Chesky's Magnificent, Fabulous Absurd Insane 5.1 Surround Sampler. It's got some really cool stuff, for both 2 channel and surround that is a...
What DVD should I use?
I found the sound in 'The League of Extrordinary Gentlemen' to be amazing, movies pretty lame, but the bass, and unfortunately for you if you only have two channel, the surround effects are top notch. It was so good in this regard, I'm still consi...
Please recommend SACD player under $6K - "warm"
Thanks guys, hadn't checked out this post in a while, and in the meantime found a dealer who got me mine two weeks ago. Pretty sweet player!!!Now I'm in the hunt for the money for the new pre/pro....
