is the Unico enough?
I'm not familiar w/the NHT's but may I suggest you considera seperate amp/pre-amp combination. A Rotel RB-990 (200w.) would probably be a great amp to use. Used around $450. What I've heard this is a great amp. Perhaps a Rotel RTC-940/950 pre-amp/...
Good but FLEXIBLE Interconnects
Music Metre cables. Using the Signature and III's and getting fine results in one of my systems.
Just received my tube integrated and i'm hooked
I too decided quite recently to get into tubes. I wanted to start out with something small and inexpensive so I decided to buy a Jolida JD-102b int. amp. This amp retails under $600 and uses affordable EL84/12AX7/12AT7 tubes. Sounds very good inde...

need help Unpgrading from CAL Ikon MK II
I've also considered upgrading from my Icon MKII. A wonderful warm sounding player. I'll been lead to believe that the dac's inside this player are what make it special.Any thoughts on the Creek CD-43 MKII as a possible replacement?

HELP Electrocompaniet stole Christmas
I agree with you Mike that we need to be civil and realize that human beings have feelings and make mistakes at times. Mr.Warshaw should have, without any doubt, in my mind performed the agreed upon work. (This would have been the honorable/just/h...
HELP Electrocompaniet stole Christmas
I've read all the posts so far and I want to wish you well Ernie. I can't believe the extreme poor judgement by Alan, the U.S Distributor of EC, not once but twice. This is no way a person is to be treated. I applaud F S Audio in their efforts to ...
Source vs Target: where is the weakness?
As long as we're on the subject, "What came first, the chicken or the egg?" Hard to answer! I like "Ozfly's" answer "it depends." I personally think whole systems should be put together from the get go rather than mixing/matching this and that and...
$500 total to get into vinyl, what would you buy?
About 8 months ago purchased a used MMF-5 TT in pristine condition and am very very pleased with it. I like the fact it comes a very good cartridge standard and offers very good platter isolation.(Something to consider if you have kids or if peopl...
Urgent help: fuse breaker box for dedicated line?
DT. You might try going to a wholesale electrical warehouse where electricians buy their parts from. They might even be able to sell you the box you're looking for and they would be most qualified to answer your questions. Usually in the morning a...
grainy sounding high end system
The comment made by "Zaikeman" that situations like this are more common than many audiophiles care to admit is right on. Surely an uphill battle with so details (many of which "Benthar" addressed) that need our attention/fine tuning. One another ...
grainy sounding high end system
All the pieces of the puzzle are of high pedigree so one would think the resulting sound would be fantastic, but it isn't for some reason. Room acoustics, cables, your state of mind and many other factors(some of which we can never conquer complet...
speaker cables recommendations
I would consider a warm sounding cable. One possible choiceof interconnects/speaker wire would be Cardas. Do some research on this site and determine which wires fall into the "warm" side. Also, to add to the confusion, will you decide to bi-wire ...
budget amplification - what to get?
Hi Roc doc. If the idea of a passive pre-amp interests you, consider the Creek 4330/R. I personally haven't heard this model but others have spoken quite highly of this int. amp.A few years back I had the Acurus A-100/RL-11 combination. I would inv...
