Yes, power cords need break-in time like anything else. Attach it to a refrigerator or freezer for two weeks of running time. That should smooth things out and/or you will know approximately the potential of the cord.

Passive Pre - No Regrets?
I owned (at the same time) the Placette and Sonic Euphoria preamps, and used them with various SS and tube systems I own. Although they are both good (have strengths and weaknesses) over all I prefer an active preamp.
