| Synergistic Research Atmosphere level 1 or ???? I suggest you ask the Cable Company for advice and use their lending library. | |
| Question about neutrality and transparency in an amp As others have stated, it’s too soon to hear the true sonic signature of your system. In the end, your amp may end up with neutral sonics, but the dynamics and depth will have opened up.I also agree that the Dynaudio Focus line has warm, full-bodi... | |
| First "audiophile" system, now what? Suggestions for best "bang for the buck" upgrade? Do you have any room treatments? Anything to absorb or diffuse reflection of sound waves on the walls? | Retract offer Ebay has a policy that if a mistake was made on an offer and purchase, the seller can cancel the sale if the buyer immediately contacts him and pleads his case, e.g., a typo in the offer amount.Audiogon is not set up to do that. Immediately upon a... | |
| Next jump in performance I have to ask, is the power from your electrical grid very unstable...brown-outs, power surges, lightning? That would be the reason to get a power regenerator. Very simply it takes the unstable power from your AC line, then converts it to stable, ... | |
| Sunfire Ultimate Receiver amplification Built in 2004, it probably would need to have parts upgraded. But a lovely sounding amp. You can look for info at The Carver Site.com, Sunfire section.IMO, use it for HT. For 2 channel find a modern integrated. | |

| difussor's With the Adagio's 30" out, and the small size of the room, isn't this a near-field setup?Diffusion panels on back wall, and ceiling is a good idea.Absorbtion panel only on wall behind speakers to focus the image. | |
| difussor's Given your small room, I think Erik is right. Some absorption panels are needed. To tighten the image, absorption (not diffusion) is needed on the wall behind the speakers. Speakers 30" out seems to be good positioning with such a small room. | |
| difussor's Have you tried toe-in and pulling speakers forward a few inches? | |

| Recommendations for IC and speaker cable "First, I’d recommend just buying used and keep swapping until you find what works for you."The Cable Company is the cost effective way to audition multiple cables and get recommendations to match your components. The fees incurred are applied to a... | |
| The best separates between $2500-3000. Moving on from the original Rogue Sphinx Intg.. Jim, At your budget, I realise that many integrateds and also separates would be a horizontal move. I was thinking of a much higher-end integrated than the Sphinx which would sell for about $3K+ used. For example, Plinius...https://www.audiogon.com... | |
| Synergistic Red Fuse ... Interesting how much a SR Black can influence the sound. I was asking myself, "it's only a fuse, why does my system sound so bad."The Red sounded great within the first listening session. Many thanks. | |
| Synergistic Red Fuse ... I was following the thread in the early days and installed a SR Red fuse in my ARC CDP; I wanted to start at the source. It was such a tremendous improvement in every way and since the spinner is naturally detailed, I stayed with the Red.Next I au... |
