Cartridge upgrade for VPI Scoutmaster
The airy 3 comes in both .24mv and .48mv, I am not sure about a .34mv version as mentioned in the original response post. The airy 3 is a very nice cartridge if you have a good matching phono.
question about the "analog sound"
I agree with CPK, the most likely culprit if your system can deliver the goods with a different source is your analog set-up. Some carts are better than others for specific attributes, you have the synergy with the phono amp, and the specific twea...
God, why did I try my first LP = upgrade
Oh yeah, a good record cleaning system is highly recommended. VPI 16.5 has done the trick for many people for many years. Well worth the investment.

You might not know how to describe the sound but we all know what you mean. Seems like a phono stage is in order so you can get the tt into your main system, and then see how things go from there. It's over now - you got bit. Have fun.
Stand out phono stages
I also recently purchased the K&K unit just a few weeks ago and so far I really love it, but I have only been able to try it out on the MM carts that I have (Benz Glider HOMC and Clearaudio Maestro). The whole reason I bought it is for the fle...
Is Acoustic Zen still in business?
I didn't even have to read the thread, I knew exactly what was going to be in it. These threads are a pet peeve of mine. Have some patience.
A Newbie's First Week Impressions -- Vinyl Rules
Jwong - that is both an incredibly accurate and scary post.
No wonder SACD hasn't caught on
Dave,No I'm not saying that BB is stocking vinyl now but I can drive to 6 or so stores, 2 of which have good selections of brand new vinyl, and find really great, high quality music at reasonable prices. I found 4 LPs just last night on my way hom...

I remember the sacd section getting smaller each time I went to look for music at best buy.Vinyl is the answer.

Atlanta isn't too far. Call Steve at Playhouse Audio - he carries clearaudio. http://www.playhouseaudio.com
Clearaudio Bluemotion
Ihcho, great to hear that you got you TT set-up and are having so much fun with it. Don't let the color bother you, you are supposed to listen with your eyes closed!
Clearaudio Bluemotion
Ihcho, you will have a lot of fun. Setting up the turntable isn't too bad but you have to take your time, carefully read the directions, and be dilligent. My experience became a tiny bit frustrating but once I got it done I saw that doing it again...
Clearaudio Bluemotion
I bet you could return it and get what you want. It may be worth the hassle in the long run and make you feel better about your purchase.
Stand out phono stages
Pedrillo, thanks for the thread and the compilation of phono stages. Did you seperate the categories above based on price alone?
Clearaudio Bluemotion
I have a champion with the satisfy arm and it has worked great for me. Adjusting VTA is kind of a hassle but once dialed in it works great. Looks like it might work differently on your table. You will have fun with the bluemotion. Enjoy.
