Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously?
Lewm, exactly like Monty! :-))). Can I write directly to JP Jones at Fidelis?
Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously?
Hello fellow audiogonersI have a Luxman PD-444 which is dead for all practical purposes: the light are on but nobody's home. I have re-capped it - no change. Can anybody fix it? Cosmetically it's only fair, so I'm thinking if repairs are too much ...
FYI: VPI HW-19 motors
I see that the conversation has drifted - but no complaints here :-)1) Testpilot: I've had an Oracle Premiere Mk IV for many years, and can not say that it had no bass. In fact, it had very nice bass. It was not as big as VPI's, but it was clean a...
WHAT IS GOING ON WITH VPI ??
They only work thru dealers now. I was Given "Sound Stage Direct", and ordered parts thru them. It took 5 weeks (!) to get parts for my HW-19 Mk IV...
Goldmund Reference Turntable ?
Any way to open up the sound of the T3F, or give up on it? I found that late versions performed flawlessly mechanically, but the sound is very closed, hard and midrangy with a big overblown upper bass. No highs/upper mids really to speak off no ma...
Pass Labs Xono vs. Aesthetix Rhea
I also disagree that Xono is sterile and cold. I have not compared it to Aesthetics, but compared to Hagerman Trumpet, and MFA Luminescence. While both tube units do sound warmer and have subjectively a bit more "life", they also luck in control, ...
MG1 air- bearing tone-arm
HiI've used MG-1 with excellent results on my Oracle Premiere Mk IV. Takes a while to set it up, and then you have to check it quite often for proper leveling (you need a small level and a Hex wrench to adjust the screws in the base of arm), so ar...
Cart recommendations for MG-1 tonearm
IMHO, and I may be wrong, of course, but regular compliance computations do not apply to most parallel trackers. Side-to-side movement of MG-1 can be easily controlled by liquid damping, thus accomodating almost any cartridge. I have used many car...
Pink Floyd best CDs soundwise
Sol322, never heard of it, pls enlighten me!
Pink Floyd best CDs soundwise
Thanks for advise. Is 30th Ann. hybrid different from regular SACD hybrid that I see now on e-bay and other sites? Is Japanese hybrid different from both of those?
Air line filter for air bearing arm
I also have MG-1. This filter is a low restriction filter, so affect on air delivery, as I experience it, is minimal. It does not matter where the filter is, the best way is before the pump, but there is no visible air inlet on the pump supplied w...
Air line filter for air bearing arm
Thanks to all. I received an e-mail from ET to use automotive clear plastic fuel filters, $5 max. Already installed and works great. Go figure!
Goldmund Pabst motor
To all who are interested: I found some more info on that Papst motor, thanks to a very helpful european member: Same motor (with minor changes) as used in a Dual 704. Later improved version used in a Dual 701/721.
Questions about Goldmund Studio and T3 arm
Hello there. I've used a Studio/T3 for a while now, and had no big problems. One of the motors went in the arm (excuse me, 25 years?) and was replaced (Goldmund Europe still has them at very expensive $300 a pop). Granted, I'm rather handy and can...
Comments / Observation on Dynavector 505 tonearm?
Hello Fernando, I've used 505 on many tables, including VPI HW-19 Mk III and IV. There are no problems. 505 is limited only by it's weight, so as long as the suspension can handle it, it's fine. It is also less affected by sound of different table...
