I purchased a used Schiit Vahalla tube headphone amp here on AG. I will use it with a Music Fidelity V-DAC II and MHDT Paradisea+ DACs. Currently to drive my AKG 701Q headphones.  One day I what to try a Audezen headphone however not sure the Vaha...
New Member Needs Help
You have received good advice from Tom and Rich. Regarding the turntable, you will probably need a new cartridge as well as the belt. I take it that the system has seen little use over the last few years, I would want to test the speakers 1st. cou...
Latest Absolute Sound
Though I am sure that there are rich audiophiles that can purchase the ultra expensive components and get the most out of them , I can’t help but think many of the rich buying much of same are doing so more because they can, than due to knowing wh...
Recommendations please for good, affordable pre-amp for system?
There is a Parasound P-3 Pre for sale here on AG. Asking price is $450. Might be one you could use until you upgrade and sell without much loss.
Why doesn't audiogon send notifications of offers and messages?
I generally make communication via the AG system and have received Emails form AG of responses.  I want an AG record of communication for transactions.  Having the outside Email route is a plus however. I suspect AL ( as usual) is right concerning...
What's the greatest bargain in audio racks these days?
I have a 15K system bought on a used\discounted budget. I could not justify the expense of high priced racks. Most all my tweaks are DIY.I also have an older Target welded steel rack.  I filled it with sand and replaced the plywood shelves with 2”...
Maybe the best $ 140 ever spent .....
Great to hear.  I use Wireworld USB cables, Starlight 7s, in my main system and have used the Belkins in secondary ones.  Five meters is a very long run for USB and I don’t question the value of better cables in that situation. Would be better to ...
Recommendations please for good, affordable pre-amp for system?
Regarding your quest for cables, I generally buy used ones found on Ebay or here on AG.  Sometimes new when sold at discount.I use Audioquest for interconnects, starting with lessor expensive ones and worked my way toward better.Music Direct is se...
Helpful and altruistic audio community members
Yes, great post.  In any hobby, most practitioners are willing to go beyond and share their enjoyment with others, in spite of those who do not.  Great to here stories of the doers over that of the don’ters.
new pre/pro recommendation request
I think your should consider replacing the pre/pro with a 2-chnnel preamp and a DAC. To do this on your budget, I would purchase the DAC 1st, and circumvent the digital processing in the pre/pro, using it as a pre only. One option, the Music Fidel...
Cork floors?
Purchase  a inexpensive rug and put carpet pad underneath. Use the standing acoustic panels at windows, make your own acoustic panels for behind speakers, and behind your listening position. use only upholstered furniture.  Can a acoustic panel be...
RCA to 3.5 mm ??
Since most 3.5 to RCA interconnects are intended for the 3.5 to be used for the source component, I would use my choice of RCA cables from the source to the adaptor at the ’Sink’.  As Al described, this would allow for proper shielding with the ap...
Denon to Parasound
Though you may not go wrong with either the Parasound or the Odyssey, with the Odyssey you can call the guy up who will make your amp, Klaus Bunge.  The conversation alone will be worth it.  I was strongly considering the Khartago, however happen ...
Setting a price for Spica TC50s
If the surrounds are damaged, they can be replaced. At a cost of ~$30/driver.These speakers, as is, are probably only worth $150, and only to one who already owns a pair and wants backup parts, or one who wishes to recondition.
Good options for monitor Audio sliver line
Have you looked into the Marantz integrated amps?  The PM8005 ($1200 retail) might be a good choice for you. Has pre out for driving subs. Also 2 sets of speaker binding posts. The PM7005 ($1000 retail) has built in DAC.
