| Idea to reduce RFI I've been using a PS Audio Quintet. You'll see them used for around $400. The Duet has the same design, but only four receptacles. It's around $200 used. | |
| Idea to reduce RFI I had a similar problem. Connecting my sources and preamp to a power conditioner eliminated all RFI. If you're not using one, I highly recommend it. | |
| Good Amp with totem model 1s? What are you using for a preamp? Will you consider a tube amp?Conrad Johnson MV75 | |
| Is there a killer preamp for 1500? I want to thank everyone for the suggestions. I have to admit, it's a bit overwhelming. The more I read, the deeper the pool gets.I should have done a better job defining the sound I'm looking for. I own two very good passive preamps: Bent TVC wit... | |
| Modwright 9.0SE Sig. versus Belles 21A Rockinrobin, what's your impression of the Modwright? What were you using beforehand? Also, what amp and speakers do you have? | |
| Is there a killer preamp for 1500? Bnrlaw, I forgot about Juicy Music. Thanks for that reminder. I know they make good products. How does the Peach compare to units in the 1500 price range? Hume, I can't seem to find the LE-PREAMP. Can you point me to a link? | |
| Is there a killer preamp for 1500? Guido, I just finished reading your Capri forum. Thanks for pointing it out. Very interesting. Unfortunately, the units on Agon right now are out of my price range, but I'm not in a hurry, so I'll keep it on my radar. Any thoughts on the Audio Not... | |
| Musical Fidelity A3.2 or A3.5? I haven't heard either of these integrateds, but if I were in your shoes I'd go with the A3.5. More power is always a good thing when using SS and driving difficult speakers. | |
| Shahinian Obelisk Passive Radiator Replacement FWIW, I've heard that Obelisk's in good condition sell for between $1000-1500. Yes, you got the screaming deal of the century. Using OEM parts for repair will retain resale value. | |
| Shahinian Obelisk Passive Radiator Replacement I heard a pair of Shahinian Hawks tonight and was extremely impressed. If the Obelisks sound anything like the Hawks, they're keepers. I agree with others... get the OEM drivers. $275 is a fraction of what these speakers go for used. | |
| solder-Eutechnic,Wonder,WBT?? 06-08-08: DfhaleyckoWBT is a pleasure to work with. I've tried the Cardas quad eutectic (lead-free) and it's a PITA. Interesting. I haven't had a problem with it. Maybe I should get some Wonder or WBT to see what I'm missing. FWIW, Cardas Tri-Eute... | |
| Universal players as a transport I've been using a Denon 2910 with a Paradisea. It sounds great with absolutely no problems. I see one in the classifieds for $225 right now. The transport is the same in the 2910 and 3910. The only difference between the two is better audio circui... | |
| solder-Eutechnic,Wonder,WBT?? I've been perfectly happy with Cardas Tri-Eutectic (Lead free). | |
| Supporting Heavy Virtual Dynamics Power Cords I wrap Blu Tack around the female connector. It makes the connection snug, but you still might need to support the weight of the cable with something. | |
| Pls recommend tube DAC I second the Paradisea. If you're patient, you'll find one come up on Agon for less than ebay. I've heard nothing but good things about the Monarchy M24. As Elf73 points out, it can serve as a line stage too. Good article here: Something Old, Some... |
