No Audiophiles in Hollywood
While testing my new dvd player tonight...I put on "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider". Just before the bad guys break into her mansion/palace/chateau, you get a very quick glimpse of a megabuck Clearaudio turntable.
DON'T GET IT ...screen too large = eye strain???
.I get asked the question about the mirror and the sound reflection. Not a problem at all. The system truly sounds incredible. When I first completed the system, I hung a 15 ft high and 40 ft long drop cloth to block the mirror image reflection fo...
DON'T GET IT ...screen too large = eye strain???
.I have a projector and a 240" inch screen (12' high and 16' wide). I sit 25 feet from the screen and it is thoroughly enjoyable. I've had if for a year and I've never experienced any eye strain. The only reason I didn't get a bigger screen was th...
REF3 with VS115
Audphile1...yeah all of the Ref preamps had bass in spades, so the Ref3 fell right in line with its predecessors in that regard....I really loved my Ref2 mk2 and it was an outstanding preamp...I was shocked by how much better the Ref3 is, I didn't...
REF3 with VS115
I wonder if the bass on the Audio Research REF amplifiers and all of their reference components have an enhanced bass sound also. When I purchased my Audio Research REF CD7 (moving up from a CD2), I noticed the increased bass in the player immedia...
what ARC combo- Ref 1/Ref 110 or Ref 3/VT 100 MK3?
Get the Ref3 no matter what....you can always upgrade the amp. The Ref3 is a monster.
Anyone using the Netflix Roku player?
.I went ahead and ordered a box for my 11 year-old son. That way I don't have to use my rentals that much for him on routine movies. For the newer kiddie blockbusters, of course I'll rent him the dvd with the better sound and resolution..
How Many Turntables Have You Owned
oops...I forgot that I bought a Music Hall entry level table before I bought the Oracle.
How Many Turntables Have You Owned
.In 33 years in this hobby, I've only owned 3 tables.1. Technics SL-1500 or something like that back in 1976..kept it for 25 years. It was a direct drive machine. I started with a Pickering cartridge back then....then I moved up to the Shure V-15 ...

Any thoughts on the new Marantz HT separates?
.Yeah I've been salivating at both pieces. I've just bought a new pre/pro and blu ray player two months ago and already I'm looking to upgrade to the Marantz pieces.I've been reading the owners manuals of their new blu ray player and of the new de...
Anyone running 9 or 10 speakers in their HT setup?
.I can see the merits of using two processors, however, that would mean two volume controls. It seems a little more trouble than it's worth. I think the simplest solution to add more speakers would be to go with y-connectors out of the processor's...
Anyone running 9 or 10 speakers in their HT setup?
.Naked.......the room is 70' long x 22' wide with a 22' high ceiling. It's a very serious sized room. The projector has a throw of 28 feet...it has to be that far back to fill the screen with a 16 foot wide image. Very nice picture I might add. An...
Anyone running 9 or 10 speakers in their HT setup?
.Somec...the XLR + RCA outs is a great idea! I'll call Sunfire tomorrow and get the skinny. The volume levels shouldn't be much of a problem, I should be able to correct any volume differences with an SPL meter..
Anyone running 9 or 10 speakers in their HT setup?
.Naked.......Great post, I appreciate it. Now I can sleep peacefully now that I know what I'm up against.Somec.....I had already been contemplating just what you mentioned in order to get addional surrounds for more area coverage. My center channe...
