Solid core phono interconnect - Recommend Please
Pani, before you commit, a final suggestion. My solution to the capacitance issue was to disregard the standard 1 metre lengths of low-C cable and get a custom made 0.5m cable. I called upon the services of Johnny7 at Audio Origami to make it.(I st...
Fozgometer
This seems like a handy device (and made in the US). I considered buying one a few years ago :http://www.kabusa.com/canceler.htmLooks more trouble-free than the Foz (no lights, you judge the sound minimum)? It is bound to have its critics too I am ...
Fozgometer
I seem to remember the Fozgometer being somewhat discredited by users in general, the inference being it was only dependable in 2 out of 3 cases(?). If you prefer measurement perhaps a better option would be to wait for one of these :http://sound-...
For VPI Unipivot Owners, do you use antiskating?
Thank's Doug. ;^)Kind regards,
For VPI Unipivot Owners, do you use antiskating?
Dear Stringreen,You must have missed this bit :"If AS is wrong then the cart will tend to ride up the slope of either channel. This is tantamount to a sort of channel-specific incorrect VTF, even if it is not blatantly mistracking. You will hear L-...
cartridge demagnetization
It's conceivable that some of our contributors, in their long careers, may have, at some point, blown up some dark matter. ;^)

Dear Adeep,You should try AS. It seems an obvious thing to say but before tinkering with AS try to get the platter as 100% level as possible in all axes. With some suspended tables this is easier said than done. I've seen suspended tables visibly t...
cartridge demagnetization
Thanks for the constructive comment, Intactaudio.I was looking for a word that described the properties of "soft" material but turns out paramagnetic wasn't it ;^)Cheers,
cartridge demagnetization
I should mention for the benefit of anyone who's just tuned in to the demag argument that Lyra carts such as the Delos use a paramagnetic grade of iron for the coil formers, i.e. will "conduct" magnetism but resist storing it, so residual magnetis...
cartridge demagnetization
Shorting the MC outputs to GND as recommended by J.Carr (as demonstrated on YouTube) would yield the strongest current i.e. maximising magnetic flux, which is proportional to current. This would produce the strongest and most "coercive" effect whil...
Quiet Introduction of the Magnepan 1.7i
Mitch, I couldn't agree more....and good manufacturers deserve success. The only downside for me is that I'm ineligible because I'm in the UK :(
Getting phantom image perfectly centered
Please bear in mind that loudspeaker pair matching can have a tolerance of up to +/-3db although the reality is probably less. Cascade this effect all the way from cartridge through phono stage and power amplifier and it could be even worse if it ...
Quiet Introduction of the Magnepan 1.7i
RW, that's quite a loss-leader but their confidence may be well founded. It's strange really because you wouldn't have thought they needed to have an offer like this. The danger is it may open the floodgates for those who just want to claim the 10...
Anyone into cassettes?
Good advice Geoff :)I lost one of those pads recently and never did manage to find it - it vanished completely!Don't think the cassette itself is too critical or fussy about the attachment. it doesn't have to be symmetrical just reasonably aligned...
Anyone into cassettes?
If you are using old tapes i.e. 30-40 yrs old there are a number of things to watch out for.Although the mag tape portion is absolutely fine and probably sounds as good as it did on day 1 (subjectively)sometimes the leader tape can lose it's stick...
