Help with a suggestion for using audio equipment in extremely humid climate conditions
Thanks guys, for your input! Surely, I meant more or less expensive gear, otherwise there would be no concerns. I have heard from the people leaving on the coast that electronics like TVs, DVD players do suffer from being close to a sea. This was ...
Speakers positionning
Obviously depends on the size of the speakers and room. I think there is a critical distance, for any pair of these components that cannot be shorten. Then you may widen it as long as you feel that the sound remains unified. Once you hear that it ...
Accuracy vs. musicality
Who knows the definitions of "accuracy" and "musicality"? Do you wish to be imposed by someone's ideas on what the accuracy means? And musicality is your personal matter, what you consider or not musical. Depends also on the music you listen. If y...
Thiel CS2.4 to what?
To my experience, Thiel speakers correctly reproduce the sound as it was recorded given that you have other adequate audio equipment. CS2.4 speakers do need a subwoofer, perhaps, this is what you are missing for enrich your soundstage. I suggest k...
Why Miles Davis late alboms are not well recorded?
I also suggest that this issue has something to do with Miles himself (it would be quite questioning if he would not notice the sound quality of his recordings). Different layers could have, in principal, caused some unexpected results. But was ea...
Why Miles Davis late alboms are not well recorded?
I am judging solely based on the CD reproductions (my LP collection is about 20k km far away from Mexico where I live now, and there I have no decent audio equipment now). I have heard many well and some excellent recorded CDs, even ones which are...
Why Miles Davis late alboms are not well recorded?
P.S. The next "better" recorded fusion album is perhaps the following 1970 "Big fun"
Why Miles Davis late alboms are not well recorded?
Indeed, I have missed this, perhaps, the only and the earliest (!) "fusion" album which is well recorded (a mystery, why?)!
What makes a speaker sound great at low volume?
I think good speakers sound equally well at all volumes. At least, this is what I observe with my Thiel CS6 and CS3.6 ones. I can hear the same deepness and resolution at a low volume as at a high volume (given that the recording quality is good) ...
Thiel Customer Service - New ownership is terrible!!! - WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS COMPANY ?
I did a similar job. Rob Gillum from Thiel said that it is ok to solder normally. He even said not to use silver solder. Good luck
Who still listens to their First Generation Cd Players?
And I can avoid use of LPs as Raymio DAC settles the problem with analog interpretation.
Who still listens to their First Generation Cd Players?
My main music source remain CD players (and  rarely I use my Yamaha K-850 cassette deck - some cassettes give good dynamics). CD players I use are (about 20-years old) Krell CAD 300, Yamaha CDS2000 and sometimes Arcam  CD 73. Krell has  the oldest...
Eric Clapton reveals this week of his declining health
sorry to hear this, however he may still sing. as to bb king's note, perhaps he said this in some particular context. taking into account the contribution by unit time of life, i wouldperhaps give some priority to jimi hendrix
Does a tube need the break-in hours?
Thanks guys, Mike and tomcy6 !! The tubes were kept properly, of course. And I bough them directly at Manley in Chinos, CA, about 15 years ago (they were not expensive at all). It did not clean the pins (legs), I though, since the problem is not p...
Does a tube need the break-in hours?
thanks! then NOS tubes would be the most appropriate (though it should be almost impossible to consider a new tube or one in a good condition from 50s or 60s).
