Why don't amplifier Companies use high end fuses?
@toddverrone, I wish I could be as succinct as you. 😃
Why don't amplifier Companies use high end fuses?
A fuse is not a wire. A fuse is used in place of a wire, or interrupts a trace, on a circuit board. We can all agree that a wire or trace should be of very high quality/purity to sound it's best. A fuse is an over current device engineered to melt...
Direction of aftermarket fuses (only for believers!)
Great to hear. I did the same thing with my PADIS fuses: put them in and had questionable sound that didn't improve in a couple of days so I turned them around and viola!.All the best,Nonoise
How "Tribal" are we?
@minorl , your mention of a '70 Barracuda brought back some memories. I had a '69 Barracuda S340 that I only kept for a couple of months. Fast forward some 35-40 years and one just like it pulls into a parking space as I'm walking by and it really...

Why is good, deep bass so difficult? - Myths and their Busters
Let me state unequivocally, deep bass is difficult for the average consumer. Most audiophiles are better off with bass limited speakers, or satellite/subwoofer systems. The former limits the danger you can get into. The latter has the most chance ...
How "Tribal" are we?
I would like the audiophile community to NOT indulge in this movement, at least in the form of ascribing labels or tribes to those who hold views contrary to your’s. As you assert, most of us are, as individuals, much more than any tribal label ca...
Why don't amplifier Companies use high end fuses?
With regards to at least PADIS fuses, the CE rating allows them to be used anywhere in Europe as they meet any and all applicable standards for safety. There is no 3rd party evaluation like UL does in the US but UL would like to do it (for a fee) ...
How "Tribal" are we?
@hifiman5 , That's some rather nice insight. Accentuate the positive and play down the negative. Life is just too short. All the best,Nonoise
How "Tribal" are we?
@hifiman5, your question on tribalism, it's roots, applications (attribuitons?) and most obviously, the political angle, haven't escaped my attention all while reading threads, posts, and posters here on Audiogon. The similarities to politics is p...
Why don't amplifier Companies use high end fuses?
To the first part of your question, there are amp makers and makers of other equipment that use aftermarket fuses. I say this as I've read lots of reviews and came across some makes that use them. They are a small subset of this industry, and no, ...
Best fuses for under $50?
@auxinput, As much as I'd like to try something new, I'm quite satisfied with my TWL American Series power cords. They brought everything up a notch or two when I first put them in and they're staying put. 😄All the best,Nonoise
Best fuses for under $50?
Finally got around to putting a PADS fuse in the 'ol Marantz integrated and it was like it coughed up a hairball. đŸ±Well, not as drastic as that but I can't see things getting any better for the foreseeable future. What I had before was some really...
Current speaker threads are boring
@soix , if you have that kind of scratch lying around, do yourself a favor and inquire around at the next audio show you go to. At the LA audio show they had a pair of Lumenwhite speakers that normally go for $70K and the show price for the pair w...
