Tom Waits...anyone?
I wish he would keep 'waiting.'
Am I wrong?
I agree that your piece should go to the front of the line, behind, of course others in the same situation. Being without the piece of gear can be very frustrating. I sent a TT in to SOTA to be upgraded. They got it done pretty fast, but it still ...
Help with 30th anniversary DSOTM vinyl?
I have several copies of this reissue and have never had that problem. I thought the vocals , just like the rest of the LP sounded amazing. Alan parsons, or no Alan Parsons, this is a 'must have.'It's hard to imagine the problem is a VTA issue, bu...
Need Help with Technical Question
Are you talking about having two different sources of power running in to one pair of speakers??? Don't do it, if I understand what yop are contemplating.
Copies Better Than Originals?
http://www.genesisloudspeakers.com/whitepaper/Black_CDsII.pdf is the source of this most recent question.I have read through the paper and still don't find any expanation for the theory.I doubt that Arnie Nudal and his reps are making things up, b...
RB 900 tweaking
I no longer have the stock fingerlift for the RB 900 it was replaced with a fingerlift from a Naim Aro arm and I think it is much better. The HiFi mod is worth the money too. I would not want to be without it. The improvement was obvious!
Dylan new remasters/SACD preview
Well I guess I better save some money for this.
Should I upgrade my SME 3009 III tonearm?
That seems like a pretty harsh statement from VPI. I have to concede though that SME along with everyone else had made significant technological advances since the 3009 arrived on the scene.Does SME still sell the 3009? That would tell you right o...
200 Watt versus 300 to 400 Watt Amplifier Comps
Actually Sean you are right right. I guess I figured everyone's amp was like mine. Also, I did not take impedence into account. Hopefully my comments were general enough that I wasn't too wrong! Is that possible?
200 Watt versus 300 to 400 Watt Amplifier Comps
In my experience moving up in amp quality provides much more than volume. I don't listen any louder than I used to listen, but the level of detail and other benefits make the better amps well worth the money. I really think there are very few peop...
Copies Better Than Originals?
It is impossible for any copy to be better than the original. If a copy is made from the original it is possible for it to be close to the original but not better. For something to be better is has to either have more of the right information, or ...
I just puked
shubertmaniac, interesting summary of the last few hundred years. I would be hard pressed to argue any of the points you made. I would only say that artists don't create for the money. Money is a byproduct of their occasional success. We could all...
Arm board material?
I still like the feel of silk.I have the top of the line 'cosmos' armboard from Sota. It is a sandwich of aluminum and some kind of plex. Every manufacturer has their own idea though. What does VPI recommend?
Is $18,000 enough for a high end HT?
If you are spending 25% of your life watching TV you need to use your time more wisely. Rembember you only get one life, use it wisely. There is more activity taking place in your brain when you are asleep than when you are staring at the screen!
High End Audio Equipment, Status Symbol?
It will never be a status symbol because unlike Mercedes, or Lexus, no one outside this small inbred community has ever heard of Halcro, Krell, Jolida, Conrad Johnson, or Soundlab. There has to be a level of recognition by the general public for s...
