Replacing Maxon motor in a Teres Verus
I reached out to Chris, but thought I’d take it out to the hive mind. Part number looks the same, but “simple” part swaps like this never end up as simple as it seems.

LOL...Just making sure you knew the definition.

What's a "placebo effect"?
Phono Protractor. Recommendations?
If you want the best, and have multiple arms, get the SMARTractor. If you want the best, and have one arm, get the Mint. If you want to throw away $20, get the Turntable Basics protractor.
Dragon, RX-505 or DR-2 ?
Buy a non-functional Dragon that's in good physical condition (that hasn't been adulterated by a tech; ideally a higher SN), and send it in to get a full restoration. There's no point in paying extra for a deck in "perfect working condition" becau...
Dragon, RX-505 or DR-2 ?
As an owner of a Dragon, I’d choose the Dragon. Regardless of which you choose, all of them will really need a complete rebuild to perform their best. Sure, they may work, but I promise you without a restoration they won’t perform to spec.
Audioquest Makenzie XLRs
You made a wise choice.
Speed stability issues with my Teres turntable...

Any Love for the Pioneer PLX-1000 Yet?
Oooo....Interesting. Can't wait for someone to get their hands on one.
What do you mean you “heard” the turntable
I share the same dismay when someone says they “heard” a given component at an audio show (or at most dealers, for that matter). 10 different people can “hear” 11 different individual components in the same system.
Used Market Savings vs. The Dealer Experience
@ebm +1When I engage a dealer, I pay list price. I only engage dealers that are active in the in the audio community (especially here on AudioGon).
Speed stability issues with my Teres turntable...
Tom, did you machine your own platter, or did you have it made? Forgive me if I've asked you this before (on this or another forum). I keep throwing this question out there waiting for someone to respond, "Oh...Let me introduce you to the guy who ...
Speed stability issues with my Teres turntable...
Have you checked with Chris?I really miss an active and vibrant Teres community. I'm always interested in ways to optimize my table (essentially a cocobolo 245 w/ a Verus motor). I'd love to get my hands on a lead-loaded platter.
Why don't all phono preamps include a rumble filter?
Because 1) regardless if the filter was engaged or not, it’s another switch in the signal path, 2) if you’re gong to implement it with any transparency in mind, it’s going to require a high quality capacitor (expensive), adding cost to the product...
