| Revel Salon 2’s (used) or new Magico A-3 (new) ?? The spikes that come with Salon 2s are OK but putting Star Sound Apprentice XL stands under mine made a substantial positive difference. I have them under my amps as well, but they make the biggest difference with the Revels. | |
| First time w/ Tubes - pings/noises normal? Another potential source of noise - your volume potentiometer. I once fiddled with tubes, sockets etc. for about a month before squirting some De-Oxit into the potentiometer and presto! noise was gone. | |

| Preamp tubes ran their life? A few years ago I thought I had a tube issue in my pre-amp. Turns out the volume control pot was dirty, and the sound cleared right up after I sprayed some Caig De-Oxit into it. | |
| Upgrade bug - advice on amp or preamp upgrade from Ayre for Revel speakers? Soix's Plinius suggestion is spot on. I drove my Salon 2s with an SB-301 for a year before upgrading to Symphonic Line Kraft 25s, and the SB-301 did a really nice job putting meat on the bones. | |
