there have been many discussions about rigs sounding better or worse depending on time of day, listener mood, humidity etc.you may want to find some of these threads, one was posted about a month ago...fwiw

when was that cartridge made?would it not be dried out if it was an original?I had one in the late 70s or early 80s is why I ask...

I owned the pre amp (not the combo) and can say it is the sort of item that just gets out of the way of the listening session. It does not attract attention to itself and is very pleasent to listen thru.Agree with others that it is a great value

Stanwal,some think that when you are hearing multiple instruments and all have high frequency harmonics that the ear is capable of hearing higher than normal and the added response can improve perception of detail etc.I just butchered that statmen...

well yes in a way it is because 'perfect' sound on a chart would be a flat line but some may prefer a bit of a roll off so the tweeter is not too bright in a reflective room (for instance).stereos are far from perfect so a little roll off can be g...

No, it is a arbitrary thing...whatever device it is that is 'rolled off' determines it.

turning the treble down is the same as rolled off highs.If you saw it on a chart the end of the line would literaly roll off (slope down) at the end. 
does power cord length matter? fact or myth?
like Peter Walker from QUAD used to say: "the cable just has to reach the amp" he was talking speaker wire actually...Also I had Vince from Plinius USA tell me PC length has to be 10 feet exactly for best sound, I never followed up on that one. WT...

Botit,I think a tube amp will sound fine but it will not be especially robust because the impedance of the B&W is too low which robs some of the power of the amp, also it may exhibit some of the traditional 'tube' amp characteristics which is ...
