High mass vs Low Mass Turntables - Sound difference?
higher mass will lower the Q of of the resonant system- for those allergic to Google, that means any resonance near a certain freq. will be lower in amplitude and more spread out than a higher Q for both higher & lower freq.it isn't really tha...

Small room electrostat/ planar speaker?
I'll modify this a bit:Nothing with meaningful bass is going to sound great in an 11x12 room [without a LOT of treatments incl. bass traps] - too small and nearly square, double trouble. But you may be able to arrange things with the speakers and l...

Small room electrostat/ planar speaker?
Wendell told me the wall mounts do not have as good an SQ vs. cost curve as the floor standing speakers.  He also told me that the 3.7's have a SMALLER acoustical footprint than the 1.7's - when I asked if that was due to the different technologie...

Class D is just Dandy!
I always thought the gentle filter slope was b/c steep "brick wall" filtering caused audible distortions...I do agree that the amplifier is the closest component most of us have that is near perfection.  Speakers, room tmts, DACs, source material....
Class D is just Dandy!
higher switching frequency moves it further from the range of human hearing and enables "kinder, gentler" filtering
