Skeptic or just plain hard headed
I wrote PS Audio to find out exactly what they do to each piece of equipment before shipping to the new owners. I have had other manufacturers do the same thing. When I buy cables from the manufacturer, they ask me if I want them burned in which I...

Elizabeth- your statement “Paul McGowan burn in the components ONLY so they don't break for the customer in the first few days. PERIOD.” is incorrect. Burn in and testing of equipment are 2 different things. If you listen to the “ask Paul” link I ...
Sound Quality of red book CDs vs.streaming
I also used minimserver and upnp for my prior music servers and Roon is head over heals better than either. I still use an Auralic Mini for a music server in my living room setup. When I use Auralic’s DS Lightning software, I have to use minimserv...
Digital streaming options for my system are confusing
Bluesound is an entry level product. There are people that think this is a high end audio product and it isn’t even close. If you want to dabble into streaming knowing that you can’t access the best formats available and any money spent now will b...
Dumb file size question.
Disk is cheap, well worth the extra space used. Hopefully you have a high speed internet connection with unlimited data.

Elizabeth-not sure where you heard from Paul at ps audio that burn in doesn’t improve the sound of their equipment but you are very wrong. Watch this: https://www.psaudio.com/askpaul/is-equipment-burn-in-real/i have multiple new PS Audio equipment...
Sound Quality of red book CDs vs.streaming
Expensive CD player vs. the cheapest streaming setup you can implement and you are wondering why your cd sounds better? Your current setup couldn’t support the best hires/DSD/MQA streaming services that are available. Also, when was the best sound...
Warmer sounding Solid State
I would not say the Marantz is the end all sound that you want to achieve. There are much better sounding integrated amps out there that are warm sounding, like from Classe and Mcintosh which are excellent companies. There are also  natural soundi...
New Cartridge Suggestions
I would recommend the grado sonata, retail is $600, you might get a better deal. I used to own 1 years ago. On cheap turntables, they had a problem with hum. On the better turntables, it’s not an issue.not sure if you bought your JD9 yet, but i’m ...
Usher Audio BE-718 or Kef LS50
I have never heard a pair of 718's sounding awful, either the x-718 or the BE or DMD 718's. All I can say is if the 718's didn't sound good, the other equipment must not have been up to caliber of the Usher's. The older x-718's had the more smooth...
Turntable got absolutely crushed by CD
Usually people into digital go cheap with analog and vice versa. Check out Fremer’s comparisons between digital and his analog setup, usually a 5-digit dac vs his $250k analog. Valid comparison?IMO, you have to spend many times more for a tt setup...
Seller is responsible to get item to you, intact. yes? or no?
I always have the buyer pay for shipping and the $3 charge for signature required at delivery time. If they don’t pay then I don’t ship. I had some guy try to tell me that he never received the shipment and I asked are you sure? Of course he said ...
The nightmare of the cartridge buyer...
Do you really think that you are buying an authentic cartridge from China? I’ll bet it’s a knock off
Time for a Pre change? Need the wisdom...
I have never heard a Mac be bright sounding, even their SS offerings. I would say you can almost go too much to the warm side with some Mac products
What amps should I audition?
There are many amps that I would buy over Bryston and I have. If you like tubes and you have 96db speakers the rogue Cronus magnum with the kt120’s would have plenty power for your speakers. I had this rogue for a couple of years but it wouldn’t d...
