Which preamp with Quad 12L
That is what I was thinking. Benchmark has a version with a remote volume control, too. Have heard that these units are very revealing, almost to the point of sounding "cold," but that depends on your ears, your music, your speakers, your amp, and...
Changer
OK I misspoke, the C222ES, C333ES, and C555ES do not have variable outputs, per the manuals on the Sony site. I did a not-so-quick search and found that the CDP-C87ES and CDP-CA9ES units do have variable outputs. I'd stick with an ES unit if you b...
Blu ray upgrade?
Denon/Marantz/Onkyo receiver will be no match in 2-channel for a separate pre-amp in the vast majority of cases. I built a separate 2-channel system because I was so disappointed in the 2-channel music quality coming from my Denon 3310. Consider t...
Ipod newbie question?
That would be the "Pure Music" dock, Kbarkamian, I think
Changer
It sounds like you are searching for variable outputs, if I read your post right. The only recent changers I know of that have this are some of the Sony ES units, the 333, 555, maybe even the 222.I had a college roommate who had a Sony ES changer ...
Ipod newbie question?
you would need a dock that pulls the digital signal off of the iPod before the iPod converts the signal to analog. The Wadia iTransport dock does this. Place you iPod touch into the Wadia dock and go with digital coax from the dock to your DAC. Th...
Totem Arro vs Silverline Prelude vs Salk Songtower
I also auditioned the Minuets at RMAF, in the same room with the same music, and I did not like them at all, IMHO they could not compare to the Preludes, but YMMV...
Totem Arro vs Silverline Prelude vs Salk Songtower
I heard the Preludes at RMAF this year and I was impressed with their imaging, neutrality and frequency range. Only tested them with vintage Bowie tho. Not sure how they'd do with true full range music. Have not heard the Salk or Arros.
Blu ray upgrade?
I have tested dolby digital 5.1 vs DTS Master Audio 5.1 on my Denon gear, just to see what the difference was between standard and high definition video. Note that all audio was transmitted via HDMI cable, so this is not a test using the analog ou...

How to choose a good fiber optic cable??
And WOW that is the best price I have seen on a glass cable EVER!
How to choose a good fiber optic cable??
I read this link from another A'gon'r long ago, and I found it to be massively informative and really interesting. I re-post it here because I think it will help:http://www.audioholics.com/education/cables/toslink-interconnect-history-basics
Are CD players dead
Availability of Redbook-quality or HD-quality downloads is not present across a broad spectrum of musical genres. I check regularly. Comments on this post that broadly claim one can simply download whatever music they want in Redbook or HD are not...
New to computer audio and simple question....
I feed my Denon receiver iTunes through my Apple TV, it wirelessly connects to the library on my laptop. You have to turn on Home Sharing, be logged into the Apple store, and have Bonjour running in the background (I'm a PC), so its a bit of a pai...
How much uncompressed music in Ipod classic?
I've heard from hardcore apple fans that the click-button iPods are soon going to be discontinued. Apple wants to go to an all touch-screen, flash-memory lineup, so buy your classic today!
