Setting up lap top for best sound
http://www.musicalfidelity.com/support/software-downloads/You should be able to find them here. I own the MF Vlink192, it really improved the USB sound on my PS audio digital link III, I think they are a pretty good value.
Subwoofer for both HT and Stereo
Sorry, correction, double up on the connections at the amp, not the pre. Too many beers while watching the giants win.
Subwoofer for both HT and Stereo
This is how I connect my sub to my parasound Halo pre. I double up on the speaker posts at the pre. The sub sees the same signal that the speakers do. I have variable crossover and gain at the sub. Very happy. Actually stole the sub from the HT fo...

You might have to select the MF VDAC as your default audio device, in the sound control panel, but the re clock of the signal happens automatically. Most DACs these days are asynchronus - true of the MF VDAC to my knowledge - this means they dump ...

Sweet spot in the AudioQuest line of cables
Agree RE: King Cobras. Although I have to say, I spent less on my acoustical treatments and they made a bigger difference!
Need help deciding on Rotel Amp for 5.2 sys
Just my personal experience, in my HT system, Denon AVR/all B&W/HSU sub, I preferred the LCR at full range, I just thought it sounded better. YMMV. Of course now, I have absconded with my sub to the two-channel room in the basement, don't even...
Need help deciding on Rotel Amp for 5.2 sys
Totally agree on the B&K brand, had intended to mention them but was at work. Hence the typos in my previous post. I also have B&Ws in a home theater, and also suffer from a lack of power. I have chosen to place all my attention into the t...
Need help deciding on Rotel Amp for 5.2 sys
Surround speakers typically don't need a ton of power, they are used for atmospherics more than anything on a movie track. That would mean a 3-channel amp might suit your needs, but those amps are a little more rare on this site than the 5-channel...
Bel Canto DAC/Rotel 1072 question
A good music server can really be expensive. Not sure what your budget is. I went PC audio because it's the cheapest way to get into a music server type of playback system. I like having all 13,000 tracks at my fingertips. No getting up to swap ou...
Bel Canto DAC/Rotel 1072 question
There's one listed on flea-bay right now for $450. I've seen them go on this site for $250-$350. If you liked it before, it's worth at least getting an estimate on the repair.Of course if you're in the mood (and have the scratch) to buy a new tran...
Bel Canto DAC/Rotel 1072 question
Repair the Rotel 1072 first, then make this judgement. You'll need to repair it to sell it anyway, those CD players are fairly popular on this site and I am sure it could fetch a decent price. I actually have the RB-1080 amp that matches your CD p...
RMAF - Loudspeakers that you don't want to miss
For the last two years I think Nordost has demo'd with Raidho speakers on the mezzanine. Amazing sound. There is always an Ayon rig that is not to be missed. I also always seek out any and all Dynaudio rigs, some years they have had Confidence lin...
Anyone going to the Rocky Mountain Audio show??
I'm going. This is my 4th or 5th year. Be sure to check out the .xls spreadsheet of all the gear being shown and which room it's in. Available on their website at the bottom of the first "products" page.Don't eat at the mexican joint across the st...
Anyone going to RMAF this year?
SingleEnded - the RMAF website should have an Excel spreadsheet you can download with a list of distributors. I am buried at work or I'd be all over it by now.
