| difussor's I'm curious as to why one would wish to place diffusors on the front wall with forward firing speakers? The rear wall and or ceiling would be the correct location. I would tend to think live end front wall and dead end back wall would be the pla... | |
| Using CD player with outboard DAC I would guess there is separate switch on the Lexicon to enable the digital output. All of my old Sony's are thus equipped. | |
| Has anyone connected their favorite transport through the OPPO 105 for comparison ? The 105D weakness is the dac section. It works fine as a transport. However, I find my old Sony ES is marginally better sonically and light years ahead ergonomically. | |
| Will an Auralic Vega best my Meridian 508.24 significantly? It doesn't have balanced outputs. (True) I'm a believer that the power supply for a piece of audio equipment is really important too, and I don't see that with the Hugo. (The power supply is the batteries which are dc. Therefore no massive su... | |
| Will an Auralic Vega best my Meridian 508.24 significantly? Significant improvement unlikely. Why not look at a product that is truly innovative using proprietary technology instead of the same chip sets that almost everybody else is using. The Chord Hugo will be a significant improvement. Plus you get ... | |
| Cary SLM-100 amplifîer upgrade question On paper it's not a favorable match to your speakers which are 4 ohm and drop to 2 ohm in the treble which may sound a bit airless. If the Cary has a dedicated 4 ohm tap, it might be worth a try. The Cary's are really nice amps but would work be... | |
| Will an Isolation Transformer Help My Digital? My thought is one of your components is going south. Do you have another source to try? There is no way a properly functioning component would do what you describe. My answer is the transformer will accomplish nothing. Have tried everything ju... | |
| American Made Audio Unveils New Site For Made in USA Components Nice to have the information. However at first glance, I see no listing for VAC or Green Mountain Audio. | |
| The best separates between $2500-3000. Moving on from the original Rogue Sphinx Intg.. Audio by Van Alstine (avahifi) could be an option for new components. The Vision SL preamp with phono and remote is 1499.00 and the Synergy 300 amp is 150W per channel for another 1499.00 and it is rated down to 2 ohm load. No fancy casework but... | |
| Modern Class A SS Integrated Amplifiers Sugden A21 integrated is pure class A and has remote. There is also an A21 SE. AZ Hi Fi is a dealer. I prefer tubes but the Sugden is a very good sounding and well made product. The price should be in your range as well. | |
| Please comment on your experience with Plantation shutters. Yes they look great, My room has three large windows on the left wall with plantation style shutters. The speakers are designed for a 45 degree toe in but I prefer them at 40 degrees. Therefore, sidewall reflections are not a major factor. The toe angle intersects ... | |
| Best current footers for preamps? I like the Cary Audio soft shoes. I purchased a set for my VAC preamp. | |
| Jeff Rowlands Amp and Dac vs. VAC amp and DAC One of the amplifiers used in the Stereophile review of the Sabrina was a Mac 275. The reviewer first used the 4 ohm tap and thought it sounded fine. Wilson's Peter McGrath mentioned that Audio Research amps sounded best from the 8 ohm tap. The... | |
| Audio research m300 The LS15 has a skeletal sound and no bottom end either. You need to hear a better sounding preamp. The VAC line of preamps will make you say wow! | |
| Does the ceiling fan affect the sound? I don't notice a difference with the fan running. It is a five blade fan and when it is off I prefer the odd blade pointing forward. I prefer the symmetry and psychologically think it sounds better that way. |
