Well, it's about time! I am glad that Emo has *finally* made good on their promises, this has not always been the case with them...-RW-
Emotiva Preamp Any good?
If you're looking for a very good, low-cost, multichannel preprocessor, the XMC-1 is hard to beat. But, AFAIK, Emotiva have yet to provide the room correction capability they promised (Dirac) almost 2 years ago. I would be wary...-RW-

Using dBpoweramp
My experience with dbPowerAmp is that the default settings usually work quite well 95% of the time. I only alter them if I have a particularly difficult CD to copy. But that has happened only a very few times in the past 7 years...-RW-

Rotel 1072 or Arcam DV27?
Don't over-think it. Both are good units and provide good sound quality. If money is tight, sell the one that will net the best return. Otherwise, keep 'em both knowing you have a good quality backup on-hand should the need arise...-RW-
Tube amplifier to power Sonus Faber speakers?
Perhaps consider a hybrid amp (tbe/MOSFET) such as the Butler TDB2250 or the Monad. The 2250 has 250 watts/ch. and the Monad is 100 watts/ch. pure class A...

The value of top end 1080p projection
I think you are being very prudent. It is very easy to get superb picture quality and brightness from units costing $1500 or less. In some cases, much less. Anyone paying more than that for a 1080P projector is simply not doing their homework...
