Removing Morch DP-6 tonearm wires from cartridge
I own two Moerch tonearms. One has the rubber booty and the other does not. Makes absolutely no difference. You don't want to send this arm for a rewire. You will need to send it to Denmark, you won't see it for 6 to 8 months, and it will cost mor...
Wood armwand vs Metal armwand
Wouldn't predictability, consistency and repeatability across a manufacturing process and across the wide gamut of environments it is to be used in make metal a better material? I suppose one could infuse the wood structure with epoxy to attain th...
Help for a vinyl novice
As a Linn LP-12 /Ittok owner since 1982, I would never recommend that to a novice. The suspension and power supply problems are enough to steer clear of any used Linn's.I personally don't mind fussing with turntables, but it is not for the faint h...
Anyone know anything about new VPI Classic 3 arm?
Buconero, would you not consider the change in bearing to the inverted bearing a real improvement? Or is this a cost savings? How about the redesigned plinth of the classic, that is certainly different than the HW-19. I'm not disputing what you sa...
VPI Classic platter - is center milled?
Summary:The OP has a platter with a raised center.Jack Rubison at VPI says it doesn't, then he tells someone else it does, then he tells Brf it doesn't.Are things OK with VPI these days?
VPI Classic platter - is center milled?
Does that mean that the clamp has changed as well? For years VPI touted the benefits of the 1/4-20 thread on the spindle to mate with the clamping hold down system that they developed.
Denon dl103 low volume from sa3000
The biggest problem is leaving the volume control at 75% and forgetting that, then switching over to your cd player. You can kiss your tweeters goodbye. Don't ask me how I know that. Also, don't assume your significant other will check the volume ...
Random Static Hits
Dragging the stylus over the vinyl causes static build up? That would mean we would all be having the same problem.More likely it is the movement of the air on a rotating vinyl platter that is causing it. The dryer the air, the more static.I'm for...
Interesting analog experience
Isn't this a double blind test debate, without the double blind (i.e., Tmsorosk knew what format was being presented)? The results of this experience do not surprise me at all. What does surprise me is that none of the audio club members commented...
Marantz TT 15 vs Clearaudio Concept
I owned the Marantz TT15 for 6 months and was not happy with it. It was a downgrade from the Linn / Ittok that I owned since 1982. I now have a VPI HW-19 MKIV , that is 12 years old which is much better and I can actually call someone to discuss r...
speed stability
Dkarmell-The SDS will drop the voltage to as low as possible to maintain the necessary speed and frequency (user controlled). It does have a minimum specification is always reached: 72volt, if the motor is working properly. You can see the unit ch...
Random Static Hits
MILTY Zerostat. Squeeze slowly, release slowly on three spots of an album (12, 4, 8 o'clock positions) with the album sitting on the platter not moving. Repeat in the center but don't release. Move the Zerostat away from the turntable and release....
