Room correction - what device works best? But is DIRAC computationally doing all that the DEQX is, or is it just a well-implemented digital EQ?
Room correction - what device works best? Thru DEQX time alignment can be achieved with speakers with passive crossovers. As it measures the response to test tones, it digitally adjusts the arrival times of all frequencies measured. So differences between drivers as well as any time arriv...
Room correction - what device works best? Let's also not overlook the additional benefits of the DEQX compared to other options. The speaker correction that occurs before the room is taken into account. Tho Kal also seemed to find that the room correction wasn't making as significant a di...
budget power options I'd also recommend checking out the Crown XLS series. An excellent affordable choice for power-hungry speakers (like my SP Tech Revelations). Can be purchased from Amazon, so you have a good return policy if they don't work out in your system. A b...
Any monitors clearly better than Pulsars? Those Pulsars are great speakers. I will keep an eye out for great monitors at AXPONA this weekend and report back.
Speakers to audition at AXPONA 2015 Well, the Oppo 105D is sold by a number of folks with good return policies, so you can try it in your own system to decide if you like what you hear at AXPONA (if you are able to determine what the Oppo contribution is and what is due to other ite...

Getting the Upgrade Bug Again Greginnh,I think you are doing things in the wrong order here. Speakers (and their fit with your room) will make the most difference to the sound of your system. I'd suggest settling on speakers first, and then figure out what amp works best with ...

Isolation Transformers -- Equitech or Torus? I've had great experience with Equitech, and this is the first I have heard about them not being easy to deal with.Love my 2Q, but have not heard Torus.
Exogal Comet DAC As if I needed any additional reason to visit Essential Audio's room at AXPONA. Wow, you are showing some mighty compelling products. Hope I can get a seat...
Preamp tubes... Psvane or Genelex? I'm a big fan of the Psvane tubes myself. But they have a more modern tube sound. For better for worse. Really a matter of preference IMO. Looking for a more tubey sound, or a tube with more extended highs and bass and less midrange warmth?
Best upgradable system components for under $6K DSP stands for Digital Signal Processing. Google reviews of DEQX to get an idea of their products' functionality. Most recently there was a review in Stereophile. And there is a thread here, something along the lines of "Is DEQX a game changer?"
Best upgradable system components for under $6K While this technology is changing and improving at an impressive rate, let me recommend something involving DSP. Recently got a DEQX HDP-4 and it has transformed the sound of my system. Replaces my DAC and preamp, and the speaker/room correction f... |
