Mono blocks that can provide that golden sound...
Rampage60, I believe your amplifiers should have a standby mode.
Is a DAC still needed?
It depends on what CD player you have.
Interesting video to share.....been there?
Vinyl would never work for this guy.
Looking to get the best sound I can
I agree with Audiolui. It is easy to over dampen a room which can push your power requirement way up or you are increasing the volume to recover something you miss in the sound due to upsetting the tonal balance.
Speaker wire gauge
I like Xti16's method the best. I thought I favored Audiofeil's, but I don't understand why you have to include your zip code.
Have I mismatched my preamp/amp?
The Quicksilver Full preamp has very low output impedance. The older version is 12.5 ohms and the new version is 2.5 ohms. These Quicksilvers match well and always produce great sound with any amplifier and with their low output impedance they are...
Tube amps with Apogee Scintilla's your thoughts ?
I would be surprised if the VTLs can't hack it. If they can't, find yourself a set of Quicksilver monos. Several Quicksilvers have a 1 ohm tap. Even my old Silver 90s have a 1 ohm tap. Try the VTLs and let us know what happens.
Tube amps with Apogee Scintilla's your thoughts ?
I think tube amplifiers have been underestimated here by the solid state crowd among us. I have driven many so called amplifier killers with moderately powered tube amplifiers with sound quality that could not be achieved with solid state.

True, solid state is a better choice, but if you have the Deluxe 300s, why not try them? They may not play music super loud, but they will play music.

Your VTL 300 monos will not expire. However, your tube life will most likely be shortened considerably.
Attention Dunlavy Speaker owners
Dunlavy recommended starting out close to the wall behind the speakers (6-8 inches) and gradually pulling the speakers out from the wall until reaching the desired sound. Toe the speakers in until you can only see a sliver of the inside of the cab...
Smooth/Musical Bookshelves upto $1500 - $2000
You want smooth/musical bookshelfs for hip hop?
New to Turntable - what're involved in playing LP?
Unless you already have a record collection I would advise against it. Of course you can always find cheap records at Goodwill if you like Lawrence Welk, Andy Williams and Herb Alpert.
System shutting down due to clipping?
I think you need a more powerful amp, more efficient speakers or you should learn the limits of your system.
How tall are Spica Gravity stands for TC-60's?
Marqmike, Try angling your Spicas and stands so the point midway between the tweeter and woofer are aimed at the level of your ears. I use a drafting "T" positioned between the woofer and tweeter with a laser. Angle the speaker until the laser poi...
