Can a cheater plug ever damage an amp's pwr supply
Tim, sounds like you've got more voltage on the equipment chassis than you should have. This can be an easy situation to fall into with "two prongers". Try reading this thread and see if it helps at all. Sean>http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/f...

Some thoughts about value in high-end audio
Scott, thanks for the heads-up. The only thing i've ever seen or read from Hardesty was the subwoofer review issue from Widescreen. If you're wondering how i stumbled across that one issue, i snagged it from my Dad : )Sounds like i'd like to join ...
Can a cheater plug ever damage an amp's pwr supply
The only potential for damage that i see would be one of a safety factor to you, the human being using the device. so long as the amp never "goes defective" on you, i don't see that coming into play either. Sean>
The weakest link?
Three questions:1) What do you think is "missing" sonically ?2) What speakers are you using ?3) Do you run your preamp passive or active ?Other than that, this would appear to be a pretty solid system. Obviously, personal preference and system syn...
Cables "Burn In"
Thanks for jumping in there Bear. It is good to have input from the professional side of the camp too. Like you, i've always wondered whether someone that has shipped me cables for burning was hearing the same thing that i've heard here. In other ...
I'm still working to love digital, are you?
Eric and Will, i agree with both of your posts and understand EXACTLY where you are coming from. I just happen to think that the defining lines between the "soulmate" and "perfect lover" have become permanently blurred for me within the confines o...
Cables "Burn In"
Pbb, while i have watched and measured the differences in electronic circuitry "settling in" using test equipment, i had thought that "wire burn in" was a complete joke. I found out differently and the results were undeniable after some first hand...
Oh where or where have all the buyers gone?
I think that EVERYTHING has slowed down economically. My personal business has slowed somewhat and in turn, so has my personal spending.Glen: When you get to the "giving it away" stage, PLEASE just send me an email rather than posting it on A-gon....
Cost Sharing ??
I did this with several other "inmates" from the Asylum and we turned it into a fundraiser. Everyone got a great deal on the products and it helped to support that site. The first time was with several large spools of a couple different Belden cab...
George Lucas using B&W Nautilus 802 in his studio.
You mean that they aren't using ATC's, Yamaha's, JBL's, Fostex, etc... ??? THANK YOU Sugar for posting this. This is EXACTLY the point that i was trying to make : ) Sean>
Getting started with a second system...
There was another very good thread on a similar topic a while back. Unfortunately, a thorough search of the archives turned nothing up.First of all, i would suggest the following:1) Start with efficient speakers that are of "normal" impedances. Th...
I'm still working to love digital, are you?
Eric, while i don't mean to come across as being rude, i'm going to ask an honest question here. I know that you are a big fan of Stan Warren products. Knowing that and having read the praises heaped upon his mods to DVD based players ( some of th...
Music to die to
Hand me one last "brew" and let me ( or at least try to ) sing along with the Pogue's. One of their tunes "The Sick Bed of Cuchulainn" comes to mind. If you know the lyric's, you'll understand why... Sean>
Why buy older digital gear?
It's been my experience that the older Cal Audio Lab's DAC's still sound far more "musical" and "liquid" than some of the current 24 bit offerings. I'm not saying that they beat ALL of them, only that they can hold their own. This is especially tr...
