7500 for USED cables? Are they joking?
Paul, you take for granted that all studios are "plummed" with "generic" cables, crappy electronics and use JBL's to mix and master their recordings. That is just not so. While they may not be using the most "expensive" or "technologically advance...
Absolute Power Cords? Any opinions?
Just picked one up of A-gon. It is in the system now, but i also changed a few other things so i can't directly attribute anything directly to it. It does look like a decent cord, but i'm betting that the Asylum cord would fare better in a "head t...
Extended Warrenty???
I basically agree that most extended warranties are not worth buying. Most people NEVER use them and as such, they are "free" money aka "high profit" for the seller.Having said that, some extended warranties are worth purchasing. I would recommend...
RCA to BNC adapters
As far as i know, all BNC's are built to the same electrical / mechanical specs. As such, the only difference would be the actual grade of materials ( metals & insulators ) used. As to the impedance, i don't think that an RCA is 75 ohms to beg...
Source Selector Fix-It Tips
The guy that just got done calibrating my $15,000 signal generator said that the best cleaner / lubricant that he has ever used can be found at Radio Shack !!! This guy services and calibrates hospital gear, TV & FM broadcast stations, etc.. a...
Anyone heard of this ? Possible "scam" ?
No scam involved. They delivered the TV first thing Tuesday morning. 8 AM to be exact. I guess that they "assume" that if they hook it up for someone, that person will PROBABLY turn it on the moment that they leave. Since that could increase warra...
Noise, hum and AC polarity
Yes, i agree Detlof. Enid Lumley was WAY, WAY ahead of her time. I can go back and read some of her stuff today and STILL think that she's a nut. None the less, i respect what she has to say, as she has more than proven herself. Only problem is th...
7500 for USED cables? Are they joking?
Since we are on the subject, let me add to the "snake oil" side of the debate.Just picked up a new power cord that was absolutely raved about in a couple of reviews. I bought it used, so the price was not as bad as buying new. I did this even thou...
Linear tracking vs. Pivoted tracking tone arms.
While i can't hold a candle to Albert's knowledge or experience with vinyl, i do agree with his comments. I currently have three different linear trackers and one pivoted arm TT. As someone else mentioned in another recent TT / vinyl thread, it is...
Noise, hum and AC polarity
Yeah, that has me kind of worried too Glen. I'm thinking that some of the coupling caps from board ground to chassis ground are coupling just a "bit" too much. The two that were up that high are also older pieces of gear, so i bet more than a few ...
Any good gear made in Taiwan?
My Marsh is packed up in the box, otherwise i could verify. Thailand sounds right, but i might be mistaken. It wouldn't be the first time either : ) Sean>
Wanna help with my room?
I would HIGHLY avoid room dimensions of 9 x 12 x 18. You would have MASSIVE standing wave problems at multiple frequencies. For best results, none of the dimensions should be easily divided by a common multiple. As such, 18 is directly divisible b...
Reasonbly priced processor w. balanced outputs?
The only one that i know for sure that offers this is the Sunfire Theater Grand. You can find the originals for well under $2K and the Mk II's for somewhere right around there on the used market. Others may have that feature, but none of them i ha...
Anyone heard of this ? Possible "scam" ?
Thanks for the input folks. I'm going to find out more info today, but at least you have somewhat re-assured me on this one. I am not a "videophile" by any means even though i do have a large HT system. Sean>
Chiro 5.1 and C-800
The source player has to have DTS capability in order for the processor to work correctly. As such, if your EAD is not DTS capable, you will never get DTS out of the Chiro unit. Sean>
