High-quality AM antenna?
AM antennas require EXTREME length to be "tuned" or "resonant". As such, run cable up to the attic and simply connect it to some unshielded wire. If you want to extend the length of it, simple weave it back and forth vertically between the ceiling...
Best DVD/CD Player to buy
Grandpad, maybe you left something out, but CAL & Theta are two different companies. Kind of confusing. As to modifying DVD players, one of my buddies just sent a Pioneer off to Stan Warren. Stan flat out told him that h should not expect the ...
Point to point wiring VS. PCB drawing
PC boards have the advantage of being able to make use of a "ground plane" and controlled impedance if done by "CAD" ( computer assisted design ). The construction is more consistent and repeatable. The biggest problem may be lack of current capab...
sony ps question
I can ask my partner at work about this as he might have some info. I won't see him until Saturday as he is out of town. In the meantime, i would recommend disconnecting it from power while leaving the unit turned on. Do this for at least a few ho...
HT system for 3500
Exactly what are you looking for with this budget ? Do you already have a TV ? Did you want to include VHS ? Rack ? Size of room ? Type / size of speakers ? New or used ? While we can throw out various combo's that might work in your situation, yo...
Timbrel Accuracy
I think "Cornie" has been hanging around with Steve Rochlin over at "that OTHER audio site". How else would you explain his sudden case of dementia and the need to post "song" ( if you want to call it that ) lyrics ??? Medication indeed... : ) Sea...

What's better? 1 amp of 250wpc OR 2 amps of 135wpc each one?
In MY opinion, i can see how you think the system is "thin". From my experience, ALL of your components are on the "lean" side. While MF gear is not "harsh" or "bright", it is definitely NOT warm, full or "powerful" when talking about tonal balanc...
Best interconnects 2m for less than 200/pr used
Last months Stereophile referred to the Goertz Micro-Purl Cu's as being quite good. I think that they would have liked them even better if they would have burned them in using a Mobie instead of the Duo-Tech. My opinion of the Duo-Tech is not very...
Speaker vs. Room Size
I agree with most of the other suggestions here. Stick with something that is "reasonable" in size i.e. no large multiple arrays with drivers spaced far apart. I would also avoid something that is very strong on low end. As such, the B & W's t...
Nashville Audio or Home Theater Shops
Michael Green is now located in "Nashvul". Don't know the address, etc... but you might want to look up their website, snag their number and see how receptive they would be to a "drop by" while you're in the area. Sean>
Good preamp for Bel Canto EVo 200.2?
Esb, what preamp are you referring to ??? Sean>
What's better? 1 amp of 250wpc OR 2 amps of 135wpc each one?
Since you would be passively bi-amping, your gains would not be nearly as great as if you were actively bi-amping. How effective this would be would depend on the crossover frequency of the speakers being used and how the power was divided. If the...
Good preamp for Bel Canto EVo 200.2?
a relatively warm yet still "airy" set of tubes would probably be best with the Bel Canto. Since units vary according to what tubes you use, i'll leave the exact make / model up to you. After all, hunting / finding is half the fun.... : ) Sean>
