"Horns: Why don't they image well?Anyone have a theory?"because they image spectacularly?  at least mine do...  in fact, i have several types of speakers that image spectacularly.i have a better question:"speakers that don't image well: why don't ...
Tekton Impact Monitors
hi ky1mag,in the overwhelming majority of cases, having no sidewalls is a major advantage, not a disadvantage.  looking at your room dimensions, tho, in your case, you have only 13' to squeeze you and the speakers between the front and back wall. ...

hi  ky1mag (and everyone else),this post is mostly directed to ky1mag, based on your comments regarding your returning the speakers.  (but i suspect it could be useful for other, since i have a suggestion that's not typically tried by most folks....

Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
for the same price, or less, (~$395 shipped), i would strongly recommend the diyparadise eva-2 ldr attenuator - this sucker actually improved my sound, (i use an active preamp), by enabling me to run the (already wery transparent) melos tube poten...

good old tuners going obsolete
hey armstrod, thanks, but i am not really a tuna guru, just a tuna-holic. :>) there's folks far more knowledgeable about how fm - and hd-radio - really works, than myself. i suggest anyone who is really interested about fm in general, (and also...
Sansui SP-1500 Speakers
this is an interesting website, tho it doesn't specifically list your speakers:http://www.classicsansui.net/Speakers.htmbesed upon the drivers in yours, & the 60w max power rating (from sp1500's i have seen on ebay), i would suspect your speak...
good old tuners going obsolete
kt88, is this an audio forum, or a tv forum? what does your post have to do w/fm? i don't care about tv - i don't even own one.hd radio broadcasts have sideband signal; this is what interferes with adjacent fm channels. and, hd radio compression i...
good old tuners going obsolete
hd radio does not stand for "hi definition", it stands for "hybrid digital". with resolution less than that of mp3, it certainly isn't anything resembling high resolution audio. and, its sideband artifacts can really screw up adjacent fm channels....
The best sounding FM Tuner is.....
jaguar, i suggest you try a marantz 20 or 20b; most tuna aficionados say it's better than the 10b, that the 20/20b is marantz's best. (i own a completely refurb'd 19 receiver, which has the 20b tuna inside it, & it *is* an excellent sounding t...
The best sounding FM Tuner is.....
hi sutts, the accuphase t101 is a fantastic tuna, imo. as is the t100. these are both near as good as it gets, especially if you're looking for "full bodied". they may not be the last word in detail, but they are close, imo. another to check out if...
The best sounding FM Tuner is.....
strapper, i hope the md109 is a significant step up from the md108, which is handily beaten by a slew of older vintage tunas, costing *way* less - like $500 or less. (as is the sequerra, according to many folks that have actualy compared them to g...
