Room Treatment for Corners - Recommendations?
See above - post by Kal - all are good. GIK tri-traps are great for corners - you need at least two and preferably four to make a noticeable difference, and 8 would be ideal in the majority of cases.
How does the drum kit sound on your rig?
Mine Sounds exactly like a drum kit is there in the room. I should know because I have a drum kit also. You need an appropriate recording like Sheffield labs drum tracks as most drums are compressed on the majority of commercially available music....
Focal CMS 40 studio monitors - Anyone heard them?
Great sound but the tweeter is all too easy to break on a desktop. I'd recommend Genelec 8020a
Can all headphones handle HIGH Volume levels?
Snap309,I gave you a good headphone. Dr Dre Beats are crap if you want good audio quality.Being a bass freak you will be able to hear bass player very clearly and cleanly with the pro Seinnheiser. They are used by sportscasters as well as DJ as we...
Hrrmmm..What a difference..Now must move speakers
This is exactly how the cable mythology propagates.... Change several things and attribute it to the wires....
Active monitors, 3k used, great nearfield sound
Try also Genelec 8040A (warmer than ATC but clinical). Focal Twin 6 Be (splashy and fun). JBL, KRK, Dynaudio and Adam also make good actives in this price range - so try to hear a few to see which sounds right for you.
Zu Druid MK IVs vs. Essences
In Druid there is no interior taper and no progressivity in managing the rear wave. What you are suggesting is that it is even simpler - a quarter wave pipe.

FWIW - these speakers do wonderfully well with a flea powered amplifier. They definitely have some major advantages for some.

I respect your opinion, but really that`s all it is Agreed. Same goes for me and Dock's comments about the measured response. Just think of it as a service to prospective buyers and the OP - to be aware of some of the limitations of the products ...
Art Blakey, king of the drums.
Compare my last video with this version played with the same horns and a different rhythm section.Cold SweatThis is Melvin Parker on drums (Maceo's brother). You can still feel the tension and release but the overall feel is much more laid back th...
Art Blakey, king of the drums.
Art plays in front of the beat. He gives it an energetic sound but I can understand Foster_9's view. Many find that the pocket lies slightly behind the beat. In contrast, playing behind the beat gives a more relaxed feel. Some drummers can play bo...
Zu Druid MK IVs vs. Essences
The impedance and frequency plot shows that the Zu Druid is a Paul Voight type design. The notches in the bass are caused by line harmonics cancelling the output from the drivers front. The distance from the floor will make a 3 dB difference at cer...

Whizzer Cone:A small supplementary cone attached to the voice coil of a speaker for the purpose of producing and radiating high frequency content more effectively than the larger speaker cone. A whizzer cone is attached to the voice coil in the sa...
Zu Druid MK IVs vs. Essences
Druid's design *requires* a floor immediately beneath the speaker for it to operate correctly. Is that all? Those measurements suggest way more issues than that but as Charles1dad points out - it is all in the eye (ear) of the beholder - if you l...
Zu Druid MK IVs vs. Essences
Ears trump lab results. However, ears might also need cleaning or some education. In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is King. Just because a few people like something does not necessarily make it wonderful sounding. A bass guitar woofer i...
