Good DIY phono section for a Lenco?
I have a Hagtech Cornet now and will be completing a Lenco B4 long. My Cornet's not going anywhere...really like it extremely well. The Cornet feeds a Cayin TA-30 integrated which powers Triangle Titus speaks.Maybe I can post later on this to tell...
Teres/Scheu-Help
There's no one's audio advice I'd trust more than Twl's, period. And, I've come across no one who avoids personal antagonisms and unwarranted preferences more thoroughly. I am grateful for his help, and am hardly alone in that.Scottaka

It was Jimmy the street dealer who unloaded a stash of wire long ago in the streets of Brooklyn. Jimmy never went to school but his Papa was from the Old Country, so Jimmy knew meters...and figured 1.5 was the shortest length he could move while s...
Adventures of a novice tube roller; Why did I wait?
Enjoyed you post, and agree. W/in a couple weeks of getting a Cayin TA-30 I'd replaced the stock tubes, and am left wondering why everyone doesn't do same. In place of the Chinese stockers I have Mullard EL34s w/ Tesla ECC803S and RCA Cleartop inp...
For Cayin TA-30:"The Horn" or Fostex/Voight Pipe?
Thanks Artto - The TA-30 is advertised to run in "single-ended class A" not SET.

My setup: low-output MC cart *into* step-up *into* phono amp *into* main amp. Arrived here first b/c I wanted to try a low-MC cart, and second b/c I bought an amp sans phono section. Love my results, and think it would be a shame to cross low-MCs ...
Are the Empire Turntables any good?
Another aspect of this I ought to have mentioned, which I think your query made reference to, regards the nonsuspended Empire 208 table (with "massive platter"), also known as the 298 or sometimes the 398 when equipped with the "98" tonearm (they ...
Are the Empire Turntables any good?
Have a 598, highly modded, with a rare 498 on the way I just grabbed on eBay for $102.50! It seems these tables are oft overlooked, unappreciated after a decade or two of marketing-driven Linn LP12 domination followed by newer iterations of hi-po ...
For Cayin TA-30:"The Horn" or Fostex/Voight Pipe?
Can't find it, Bemoptil! Bopped around looking at your "threads" and "answers" and was lost - my apologies, as I'm still a bit new to A'gon forums + maybe I'm momentarily brain-locked. Can you help? I'd like to see it! thx.
I made a pair of Voigt pipes and
Hey Sean, I thought that was great! I've read pieces of what you explained here and there over the years but you tied a lot of info together nicely, and I appreciated how you pointed out parallel (or almost) effects of some differing methods. Mayb...
Strange Tonearm Tweak. Long
A quick note. I've used the offset HI-FI tweak for months now, since last fall, and have not the slightest doubt that it is effective. Regarding being able to see the cantilever I can't force anyone to agree with this, of course, but I've got a De...
Strange Tonearm Tweak. Long
I'll jump in here for a sec. to add that I've used Twl's "HI-FI" tweak on a vintage Empire 598 table w/ 598 tonearm, employing a heavier and longer lateral weight on the "right" or outside of the arm yoke to generate anti-skate (the inside weight ...
For Cayin TA-30:"The Horn" or Fostex/Voight Pipe?
The Mullards are great - all the usual adjectives apply like "liquid, smooth" and so forth. I think they're also more clear and give deeper bass. The thing I like best is that there's a greater difference between stock and Mullards when running th...
Please critique my new DIY stylus cleaning system.
Hey, a matchbook striker works wonders, too! I'd no idea my stylus was so dirty - 'guess my wondrous mods were so good they camouflaged the filth for quite a long while...OK, be nice. Thx again!Scott
