| Preamp Deal of the Century Fiddler,I agree with you completely on your findings of the EH6sn7's. I bought mine used and I believe they are broken in. I think they sound fantastic. Plenty of body and weight to the music with great dynamics. On CD's I feel they are just as go... | |
| Preamp Deal of the Century Docsavage,Glad to hear you love the new Cortese. Mick sent me an e-mail telling me that mine is almost done. I can't wait to get it. To be honest, I don't see how it can sound better than my Syrah! Man, do I love that preamp. The sound I am gettin... | |
| Demagnatizing a ZYX Cartridge Rauliruegas,I used to own a Sumiko Blue point years ago, and a Benz Glider after that. Both of those cartridges benefited from using a demagnatizer. The cartridges seem to lose some of the top end of the music and after demagnatazation the highs s... | |
| Demagnatizing a ZYX Cartridge Thanks for the info guys, it has been an education for me. | |
| Demagnatizing a ZYX Cartridge I have the Benz Aesthetix Demagnetizer, but I have never used it on the ZYX Yatra. Sounds like from your comments that I should not. What is the difference between it and the Cardas LP? I have to say that I love the sound of this cartridge. I play... | |
| What constitutes an AUDIOPHILE recording If it costs a lot, then it's an audiophile recording. Just kidding. You can't assume that just because it says "audiophile" that it will sound great. I have found this out the hard way. Even if it was recorded using the original master tape, it do... | |
| Cartridge advice needed, dynavector 20xh now what? I had the Dynavector 20XL low output cartridge on my VPI mk4/JMW TT. I have since replaced it with the ZYX Yatra. The improvement in sound was HUGE! The ZYX has a much more neutral sound to it. The 20XL sounded hard and even a touch bright at high... | |
| Preamp Deal of the Century Kgturner,This is the first I have heard about the KT-88 amp. When Mick answers your questions, please share the info with the rest of us. I do know that Mick was talking about building a more affordable amp that could mate with the Chenin. | |
| Preamp Deal of the Century Thanks Wc65mustang,I am sorry. I did not see your post letting me know your shipping cost. Thanks also for the tip about giving Mick my social security number to avoid custom delaysI am really excited about getting the Cortese. It has been a long ... | |
| Preamp Deal of the Century Thanks Larry. | |
| Preamp Deal of the Century If there is anyone out there in the USA that has bought a Cortese recently, can you tell me how much the shipping and customs fees were? Thanks,Tom | |
| Preamp Deal of the Century I too have been doing a lot of praying for the many people affected by Hurricane Katrina. I just got word that Mick is finally started working on my Cortese!!! | |
| Supratek preamps--more laid back or forward ? I agree with Mike, I own a Syrah. I have been in this hobby for close to 30 years now and the Supratek preamp is the best I have ever heard. The sound is very musical without calling attention to itself. Dynamic contrast is incredible. Soundstage,... | |
| Preamp Deal of the Century Hello Simon74,I asked Mick if he was putting the Mundorfs in the new Cortese. He said he has not figured a way of putting them in because they are so large and the Cortese is pretty packed inside (not much empty space). | |
| Good cartridge for unipivot arm? I put a ZYX cartridge on my VPI JMW arm and I love the sound I am getting. I had the Dynavector 20xl, but my ZYX Yatra is much much better in every way. I got mine from Mehran at Sorasound. He was a real pleasure to work with. |
