Plinius 250 MarK IV vs BAT 500 with BAK PAK
I have listened to the Bat on my Apogees...my Krell Ksa-250 beats it out in every area IMO. I have not listened to the big Plinius but from what I have read...it may stomp the Big Krells butt.I don't think the Plinius and the Bat are in the same p...
A somewhat unusual request for PrePro help
Well I don't agree with Beemer or Sean on most of their points at all. I do agree that you don't need an expensive Pre-pro. To each his own of course. For the price of an expensive pre-pro you can pick-up a used stereo pre-amp with HT-pass through ...
Sony XA777ES plus Ack Dack?
Well, the Ack Dack can be had at a cheap enough price and could be re-sold at no>( very little ) loss.I owned the XA-777es for a good while...edgy is not something it ever was in my system, laid-back would be a better discription.I found the So...
tube amp sound more engaging
I would think that very, very low powered SS amps could sound great with horns...something in the 25 watt range if used with a volume control with a slow ramp-up.Dave
Best software to burn a CD from a computer.

Concrete or Wood floor in listening room?
Sorry MikeI should have been more clear. You have nothing to lose from the benefits that cement floors offer over most wood floors which are raised and set over a foundation or basement. Most have spring to them (not a good thing) along with other...
Concrete or Wood floor in listening room?
MikeThink of your floor as another wall. Concrete walls absorb nothing. A well constructed sub-floor will be just as good as cement in isolation from vibration.Q_manWhile I don't agree with your choice of sound room construction...ie> all block...
Krell amps and Tube Preamps - enemies?
You can always check your pre-amp for DC leak. I use an tubed pre with my Krell and read the same thing you did about the internal tweak..I didn't bother with it and have no problems at all.Krell Ksa-250Krell Kav-500There was a thread about BAT pr...
Concrete or Wood floor in listening room?
I took 2x4's and laid them on their sides, this will raise the floor 1.5 inches above the concrete (glue and nail them down). Then I put 1.5 inch thick foam panels between those for insulation. After that I laid down .75 inch tung and groove floor...
Ultimate list of guides on how to get good sound.
Here is my advice: Read anything and everything you can find on acoustics...and then keep re-reading untill it slowly begins to sink in.While this approach does not have the glamour of that shiny new component we have just added...it gets better r...
How important is the Centre Speaker ?
Depends on your room and seating, if you have poor seating arangement with few good seats...a center is very important. Nothing worse than watching a movie and having the voice come at you from left or right of the screen. In larger room with great...
How to equalize a bi-amplification setup?
I don't remember your gear...it's been a while. Can you switch inputs on the amps so that the extra gain from using balanced is on the upper freq's and not the bass. 3db is not a lot and may be able to be smoothed out a little from speaker placeme...

How low can one hear Huh?? Say again
golixelephants also hear (feel) through their feet from many miles away. I was watching a show the other night regarding this and at one point all the elephants in the herd would raise one front foot off the ground at the same time in response to ...
How low can one hear Huh?? Say again
" Any other ideas?"Headphones and in-room are not the same so kind-of apples and oranges. The ear does not respond in the same way to each and is the only reason why tiny headphones can do deep bass.Dave
