Cary Audio CAD 211 FE tubes upgrade.
KD, Are you running the SLP98p into the CAD211fe?Can't speak to those tubestore sets, but I went with Psvane Tii 845 to replace Shuguang 845. Huge upgrade, all around. Then went with Psvane Tii 6ca7 to replace EHX.  Mild improvement.  Then went wi...
If NOS pre or power tubes became unavailable altogether, what new tubes would you buy?
A little off-topic, but closer than some. :) Does anyone actually like the new production EHX 6sn7s? I haven’t run into any problems with microphonics on them, but I’d go Raul’s route if that’s all there was.I guess secondarily, how about the Tung...

Raul:  Are you and Bo the same person?

Back to OP.I like the Psvane TII 6ca7s and 845s.For your pre-amp and phono, just stock up on a lifetime supply of your favorite NOS. You do the math... :)https://www.ssa.gov/planners/lifeexpectancy.html
Random question/ thoughts about stuff for sale here
I don't necessarily feel that way, but I understand it.  Lots of reasons, other than deficiency, stuff comes up for sale--upgrades/itis, downsizing, moving, synergy (or lack of), raising cash, re-prioritizing hobbies/interests, kids, bills, death,...
I need a good Preamp
Wemfan,Similar, here.  I'm a relatively recent convert to tubes (although had tubes for awhile in guitar amps, but in no way consider myself a musician--more of an awful noise-maker with no time to make it better), like to listen to music, and don...
I need a good Preamp
I don't know how it pairs with Krell or your personal taste, but I like the SLP05.  Sounds great to me paired with several SS amps and with Cary tubes, of course.  Even paired it up with an Emotiva XPA-200 for a couple days for fun (surprisingly g...
2 channel amp sound VS. HT amp sound
I think you will find it difficult to get a new HT-receiver that sounds "as good" as a similarly-priced two-channel integrated on two-channel, generally, and in a vacuum. The HT-receiver(s) will probably have loads more features and toys that might...
Why pay so much for super high end?

Bi-wires links for speakers ?
Well.  Tried it...with 12 gauge stranded OFC with bare ends.  Unscientifically.  No double-blind instantaneous switching.1.B&W 602s3. In a sub-optimal setting with mediocre gear.  I could discern zero difference, positive or negative.2.Canton ...
Bi-wires links for speakers ?
@OP. Still a skeptic.  That's way beyond anything I heard from trying out bi-wiring or passive bi-amping (with the same or similar amps). But, it's been a long time since I monkeyed with it and with lesser gear, then.  And I have no reason to beli...
Bi-wires links for speakers ?
the soundstage suddenly became huge the speakers completely disappeared !There is a substantial boost in the bass much more massive, deaper and tight. The little bit brightness I had gone completely all is more natural and calm, Further more my sys...
What are the best speakers for 80's hard rock?
--edit on the above--  CV DX9, and not to disparage CVs, in general.  Mostly played in very small or very large rooms, off whatever stereo receiver was on hand, and probably with empty beer cans as acoustic treatment.  YMMV.
What are the best speakers for 80's hard rock?
Since the question included "any price," I’d agree with Atmasphere. Within real life limitations where sacrifices have to be made, certainly some speakers would be more suited for certain music than others. On a budget for 80s hard rock, I’d second...
Bi-wires links for speakers ?
I'm a noob around here, but, FWLIW, I'm a skeptic.  Very curious, though, whether OP hears a difference from the demo.
