What were your humble beginnings on the path to high end audio?
Not long after high school I had a janitorial job working graveyard at a local Sears store where they had some decent Fisher gear. Making minimum wage ($1.25?), I couldn’t afford their better stuff. So I took a chance and ordered a small system of...
A DAC that crushes price vs. performance ratio
@nonoise + 1First, a big “thank you” to Terry (@teajay) for sharing this information. I wonder how many comments were from folks who actually read your entire review. What some have deemed as “pushing” or “promoting” can rightfully be termed “unbr...
Spotify or Pandora
Glad I found this thread today. I was a Pandora early adopter, and been on their first level upgrade ($3.99/mo for ad free) for awhile. Because of radio style restrictions (even more since they introduced premium) I was looking at possible upgrade...
Preamp suggestions ? Remote, tone control, phono for less than 1.5.
If I were in your situation, I'd get the Doge 8 and call it a day:http://www.doge.audio/products/doge-8-tube-preamplifier/doge-8-clarity-2017-edition/Good luck, and Happy Listening!
5-10k budget... so many choices
I don't know any of these folks personally; but who would you rather believe? @nitrobob ("Not even close ...") or these guys? Just sayin' http://v2.stereotimes.com/post/tekton-designs-double-impact-loudspeakers/https://hometheaterreview.com/tekton...
5-10k budget... so many choices
@mofojo beat me to it. He posted while I was finishing this up:A few years back I heard some Legacy’s at the California Audio Show. They were my favorite among many other high-end speakers on hand. As a result of that experience, the Legacy Audio ...
New credit card payment option
@maplegrovemusic I understand your concern completely; and @musicpod the reason to go "through all this brain damage" is so you don't end up taking the time and expense of shipping something and then NOT getting paid. For the most part, I've had d...
Tekton Impact
@tekton      +1 with suggestion(s) to change moniker to something else.I specifically checked this thread thinking that there was some sort of new information or update from Eric about his Tekton speakers.
Jazz for aficionados
Correction re: best Coltrane years. "A Love Supreme" 1965.  I should've checked first. Happy Listening!
Jazz for aficionados
@minorl I hear you on Trane. Had the same feeling with his stuff in the latter years "Live in Seattle" (I think?). But from "Blue Train" to about '62-'63 Cotrane was superb. In a class by himself. And Miles ... I felt disrespected when he turned hi...
Any one going to the new LA Audio show at the Sheraton Gateway Hotel
I really wanted to make the trip to LA ... mostly to get firsthand listen to Tekton Design speakers, updated Channel Islands gear (which I own), and a couple of others. Now it's up in the air. Please post pics/impressions in case I don't make it.

Thanks @frogman for clearing that up. Time to let go of the myth. I was going by past limited experience with just a few interviews that I've read. Never thought to look into it further. The piece you shared shows him giving props to pretty much ev...

Thanks for the links @frogman ... good stuff indeed. I agree with what you said and how you described the differences between Morgan and Miles.I'm torn between the two great groups though. BTW, if you haven't already gotten it, check out " '58 Ses...

One more thing. It's easy to have a certain disdain/dislike for Miles the person ... the attitude, the ego, all of that. But as a musician and a contributor he has very few peers IMHO.  Happy Listening!

@orpheus10 first, I can’t presume to speak for @frogman or @learsfool . They’ll have to weigh in themselves. But what I can say is when we look at jazz, unless we accept the premise that it encompasses more than bebop and hard bop, then there is n...
