CD mastering a lost art?
It never was "art". In the 80's it was a new technology, lot of new processors, no noise from tapes, endless digital mixing were possible, more data speed, re-clocking for laser burners and so on. When CD sales went down, there was only ONE priori...
New Vinyl - "scratchy"?
Unfortunately a lot of Press Plants closed in the 90's and most know how is gone. Now only a few do it, more or less good, but honestly, only a quality shadow from those we got in the 80's++. From my experience, most reissues are horrible from qua...
Red Wine Ginevra Phono Stage - Any Opinions?
Hm, in Tone Audio even a stone gets a great review. Good luck.
Neutral Sounding Silver Cables?
Neutral with all sonic advantages (Speed, Holographic picture, Bass response, no coloration, no loss of detail...):Audioquest Sky with 72V DPSWhen you want to try a cheaper cable, look for Audioquest CheetahWhen all is too cheap ---> Nordost
What time do you wear?
Years ago when I had Rolex they were a fraction that cost for complete overhaul.Yes, you are right. Most watch manufacturers charge an Arm for nearly nothing.Rolex is expensive when you buy it, but their Revision incl. repair is a bargain compare...
Micro Seiki Air Bearing service
No big deal. I did it a few times. That repair instruction was posted multiple times.
ZYX cartridge looking for advises
It doesn't hurt when you can adjust VTA. It is indeed very useful. How much you will use it, will depend on the records you will listen to (50-60's or Reissues..). Happy listening with your Zyx. It is a good cartridge.
What's more important: phono stage or amp
Always these decisions, decisions...they'll ruin the day. Try to go the simple way, buy a cheap MM cartridge, these can be used even with the worst Phono Stages with a satisfying result (lots of Audiophiles here like MM) and go for an amp which wi...
Why use a super accurate cartridge protractor
Precision is mandatory. When we multiply a regular Tonearm by Factor 100, the Arm is about 27.34yd (25m) long, the Cartridge System is about 1.09 yd (1m) high with a Length of the cantilever in the area of 0.55 yd (0.5m) and the contact area from ...
QRP pressing of "Tea for the Tillerman"
..surprised at the level of excitement for this release..Promotion, promotion and a new toy...I agree, Tea for Tillerman always was a good sounding album, the mastering was done right and it was sold in endless numbers. So you can find a decent o...

Kondo DAC : Why no reviews ??
>>Agree that Kondo may not be hungry fro reviews but reviewers ? Are they not interested in a Kondo either ?<<Not if they have to buy the review sample, especially at the prices Kondo chargesUhhhhh, true. And when the Importer does no...
Oppo BDP-95 sounds GREAT?
Digital satisfaction goes an interesting way. Years before it was not possible to listen to units below 20k without getting pain in the ear, now we talk about a 1k unit and even owners from much more expensive units don't escape. Any idea why it i...
Kondo DAC : Why no reviews ??
DAC's are always problematic, the next generation has better processors for half price. The only way to survive for a manufacturer is to keep the ball rolling with an update 2x a year. And a "legend" can hold the price much better, specially when ...
SME owners, what is your table sitting on?
The first step you should do, is to look for a rack with an adjustable Top Plate to level the Turntable (This is really important). Solid Steel - from Italy - has made such racks, maybe they still do it, when not, they probably have a cost control...
