Recording 50's style
Lots of tubes and transistors. The service techs must be treated like kings to keep it operating. Knowledge of that stuff is slowly disappearing.
Do 45 rpm 12" LPs really sound better than 33 rpm?
Compare a 50-60's 33RPM album to a reissue 45.I likely will hear the period press as more convincing. Typically any reissue-33 or 45 is a let down,IMO. Now, if that period album ALSO were pressed as a 45, that may be noticeable.I'm  not aware  of ...

" JD-9 MK II made in the USA"I'd like to see someone chime in, and back that up. Does Jolida actually state it's  Made in USA?Guessing it may be one of those "assembled in USA" products?Boards and case from China shipped here. Designed here, specs...
Questions to ask as I shop for a tonearm?
Have you asked the manufacturer what arms they believe, works well with their table? Shouldnt they should be the most qualified, I hope so!
The quest for the hot stamper or is it a myth
The Buddha release is the original label. Your other copy is a later press?
The quest for the hot stamper or is it a myth
The surprising thing about the "white hot stamper" is, the rating doesnt mean noise free!$500 for ticks/stitches of a Jimi Hendrix AYE or Steely Dan CTE?I guess the noise must be part of the experience?! Will someone report back on their time with...
The quest for the hot stamper or is it a myth
Tom Port's business is discussed here, Steven Hoffman and others.Whether of not his copy of Steely Dan's Aja is worth $500, is up to the buyer. It's simplybusiness filling a demand. Does it sound "better?" Subjective, like the evaluating systems.M...

Speaker Cables for Sopra 2 & PremaLuna Dialogue
"Nordost Heimdall 2"If you haven't already, consider reading the Nordost site, regarding their cable philosophy BEFORE splurging on the speaker cables.I have PL & H2 throughout but, the power cable makes the  most sonic change. Whether you lik...

Anybody have experience with Vinyl Me Pllease or is that on the for pay forum?
I just looked at the website. Gave me a CRC flashback.Meh...Other than pure convenience, looks like your getting CD's pressed on a record. Maybe LESS than that?By your account, it doesn't appear to be worthwhile.
Best Cartridge for $1000-$1350?
For that level table and phonostage, I would look into the AT OC9 III.Half the price. It isn’t an ART9,but does give a good amount of what it does.I owned both. Great carts in their price points. The OC9III may best the two in price/performance. Un...
Turntable got absolutely crushed by CD
"Turntable got absolutely crushed by CD"Everytime I revisit this site and see this  thread title, it reminds me of some of the headlines I see on the Yahoo home page.Todays younger "journalists" seem to use crush, slay and break, quite a bit.Anyhow...
