Review: Bel Canto Design e One DAC III DA converter
Thanks! It's always fun to try these different things. You just never know what is going to work and what isn't.
Review: Bel Canto Design e One DAC III DA converter
Thanks for your thorough reply. I know I can better the Oppo as a transport for Redbook. As you say, it is a question of how much for the money spent. It seems to me now that getting a high quality, reliable transport will provide less jitter and ...
Review: Bel Canto Design e One DAC III DA converter
Thank you for a great read. I read it twice and have a question. I was pining for the Bel Canto since I love the M300 amps that I have and admire their commitment to quality, but settled on the PS Audio DAC III because it was cheaper. Did you find...
In-Wall Long Runs of Speaker Cable
I have used Canare 4S11 through walls, around power wires, and it seems to work well.
REVIEW: Oppo DV980H
I recently started using my Oppo 980 with my PS Audio DAC III and it is excellent. No functional problems with its operation. It needs a better power supply. I cannot tell the difference between my Oppo 970, Pioneer 563, or Jolida 100A as far as b...
PS Audio DL III DAC with Arcam DV78? Should I?
The DL III is a truly wonderful unit, especially for the money. I have considered having Cullen do mods to my stock unit, but it is already so great that I am holding off for awhile. Sometimes I just can't believe how good Redbook CDs can sound, g...
Budget subwoofer needed
I am a fan of Hsu Research subs. I have the VTF-3 Mark 2 and it is the last sub I will ever need to buy. Hsu is known for great service before and after the sale, great products, and low prices. Their STF-2 is +/- 2 dB at 25 Hz, speaker level and ...
Shall I add a preamp to my setup?
I was facing the same situation and decided to go with a tube pre-amp. I found what I was looking for with the Modwright SWL 9.0 SE tube linestage. Of course it depends on the synergy with your other pieces, but for my system, it works.
Good Copper IC's for 2.5M RCA pre to amp?
I agree with Audiofeil. Any good IC, I have the Cobalt Cable ones currently but have used Kimber and many others, will make that run without problems. This assumes a good match between the pre-amp and amp concerning impedance.
PC for Creek Destiny...
I see there has been no response specific to the Destiny. I have a Creek 5350 SE and am happy with my PS Audio Power Punch. Affordable and effective-tight connectors, hot and cold weld, 12 gauge, double shielded.
NAD C372 & Gallo Ref 3.1
Jamesgarvin, Let it go. I agree with you. Some people feel compelled to state their opinions, regardless of their relevancy to the original question. Better to take a pass. I am sure katee knows the difference.
Universal players as a transport
Kira, I discovered something while changing my main rig around. I went with the Oppo as a CD transport for a short while. When I switched on the Onkyo nearby, there was a slight hesitation. I am guessing that the power drain affected the power to ...
More evidence that LPS are still alive
Johnnyb53-I am new to HDTracks, but they include the liner notes and cover art as pdf files. Not the same as LP cover art. I remember fondly Yes, Pink Floyd, rolling Stones, etc, where cover art was one of the reasons for buying the album! A recen...
More evidence that LPS are still alive
In the future, bands will only release online, by download. The Eagles release of their latest exclusively through Wal-Mart shows that only the bands in control of their own releases will decide how to do it. The internet is cheaper for the record...
Denon AVR-2808CI or Onkyo TX-SR805?
Just for fun this afternoon I was moving gear for better accessibility and hooked up the Oppo 980 and the Onkyo 805 on Pure Audio. Simply, it sounds great and almost as good as my dedicated CD playback route. You will enjoy it! Have fun!
