| How to "break-in" new speakers?? I too have purchased new speakers (Paradigms) and thought they were defective during the first listen. That being said, I agree with Philjolet's comment, "just listen and enjoy." You can learn a lot about your speakers during this process. | |
| Why aren't the older members still active ? Frankly, I don't know how to give an honest answer when the discussion is whether BS argument A is better than BS argument B! One would have to eliminate the BS first to see the real answer. How can one do that????SpatialkingGreat post, the whole ... | |
| Need Mac Mini Server set up advice Thanks Clio09. That helped a bunch. Although XLD was running, loading the CD and then selecting "open audio cd" got the GUI to show up. I had a cd in the machine from the start. That must've been the problem. It did not take as long as I expected ... | |
| Your Worst WAF Incident With the money you have invested in your system, (nice BTW) I think your next upgrade/tweak is a new fridge. A solid investment in you sonic quest and probably the highest WAF tweak you'll ever do. | |

| CD-format to be abandoned by major labels by the e Eventually CDs will go the way of vinyl, it's inevitable. But not by 2012, or even 2022. Well maybe by 2022 if things keep progressing at the rate they are now.FWIW, I prefer the sound of my cdp to my Mac Mini, but not by a lot. Also, I buy cds to... | |
| Collecting Within One Brand For me it was Meadowlark Audio speakers. I never got around to the top end products from the company as we moved an my room got smaller instead of larger. At one point I had three pairs of the entry level Kestrels. | |
| Musical, Warm and Smooth bookshelfs under 500 I have the same reaction to bright sounding speakers. They drive me crazy. Although it's a generalization, avoid metal tweeters. You should definitely put the Polk Audio Lsi-7 on your list. Very musical little speakers that can be purchased as ref... | |
| When is optical or coax cable or usb best? After reading so much about using USB out I tested this over the weekend. My preference was optical over USB. The difference was noticeable to my ear. Source is mac mini to a PS Audio DLIII dac. The USB was run straight in to the dac while the opt... | |

| can this fact be accurate? quote]According to the November issue of Stereophile, they have Total paid distribution of about 65,000 copies.[/quote]My first reaction was the number seemed high, but this stat makes me rethink that. I agree with the gist of Tomcy6's comment con... | |
| Mac Mini vs. CDP? I use the headphone/toslink out of the mac mini and was underwhelmed at first also. Files are ripped AIFF ripped with correction on. Dac is the PS Audio DLIII. What brought this combination to life for me was the addition of a Monarchy Audio DIP. ... | |
