| Diana Krall Survey I'd love to hear her keep working with her trio, no strings, and stay firmly in the jazz genre. Keep up the high sound quality of her recordings also. | |
| Review Fantastic 4 - 4 USB DACs Face Off Thank you for the extensive report Blindjim. I think that digital is just starting to realize its potential. I think we will see significant improvements in digital sound for years to come. | |
| Upscale Audio -- Tubes and Reliability conrad-johnson supplies an all plastic screwdriver (just a thin plastic rod with the ends flattened) to use in biasing its power tubes. Would something like this solve the problem? | |
| Fine trumpet , alto sax recordings? Mark Isham is as relaxed and mellow a trumpeter as I can imagine, but he is real jazz not smooth jazz, IMHO! He is not challenging jazz either, so anyone who thinks jazz has to run the "unsophisticated listener" out of the room to be good stay awa... | |
| An SACD question I still buy them but wish the price would come down. I purchased a few from BMG music club before it closed for about $6 each. I assume BMG was not taking a huge loss on them so why do they usually cost $25 and up? | |

| CD upgrade. P.S. You may find with the newer players that cd sound has improved enough that you don't need the tubes to take the edge off the sound. There are still prenty of good tubed players around though | |

| Best replacement tubes for my CJ PV14L have M8080 The 8080 is not a very common tube. I don't know if you can find a sub for it. I would check with tube sellers Tubemonger or Brent Jessee, both of whom can be found on the web easily. They both know tubes and are honest sellers. | |
| HasCD sound exceeded expectations since 1983? Hfisher,I don't think I would call the transition from cd to another digital format as cd being squeezed out. Cd served its purpose and it will be replaced by a newer format.Cd was not all bad. It caused the reissuing of vast amounts of music that... | |
| HasCD sound exceeded expectations since 1983? According to Nielsen SoundScan, in 2011 223 million cds and 4 million vinyl records were sold in the US. Last week on Amazon about 2,000 cds and about 200 vinyl records were released. Cd will be with us for a while yet. | |
| Doge 8 and Conrad Johnson ET-3 Requests for comparisons between 2 specific pieces of less popular gear often do not get much response. Since you have heard the c-j, try asking for opinions on the Doge 8 and you may get some info that will help you make your decision. |
