Room treatment-I was afraid of this
OK. I'll downsize my question.Has anybody tried/bought GIK bass traps with either the Flexrange Membrane added, or with the Scatterplate added, or with both added. I'm interested in the effect on your bass frequencies and did they allow upper fre...

IndranilYour experience is an exact replication of my results. The silver in the main was excellent but when I added the four golds in the rails, the overall sound was way too warm with a loss of upper mid-range detail for my tastes.  It was warm ...
McIntosh C22 Unsolved Problem - for techs/smart guys/EEs
For any of you with Mac C-20s, here is the result of my "last-chance" repair performed by Don Sachs.  I had tried four different repair shops over the past five years (three of the repair shops were listed on the MacIntosh Laboratory Inc. web page...
Bad news for audiophiles?
Dave,I tried a SR red fuse a while ago.  For me it was OK, warm but reduced detail.  I personally prefer Hi Fi Tuning fuses.
HFT, Apertures, or something else?
Question for those of you into HFT placement.  How do you think HFT placements would change if you use Magnapan speakers, and how do you think placements might change with a quadraphonic setup?  I have a pair of Maggie 1.7s along my front wall, fo...

Whether your taste runs to $10 wine or $90 wine, either will taste much better if you drink it out of a Synergistic Research Quantum Wineglass.

Indranil"auxinput- I ended up ordering Hifi Tuning Silverstar (the main fuse) and Classic Gold (rail fuses) which are on their way. I would first try the main fuse to see if this improves the sound at all. If yes then I would replace the rail fuse...

Fifty years from now, all of us geezers (myself included) will be dead.  The geezers of 2066 are in high school and college now.  I substitute teach for a few schools.  When I overhear what is playing through a student's earbuds, most of the time ...

Oops - I forgot.   Thanks Dave!

Actually I warm up the room (if needed) about 1-2 hours prior to listening and I turn on all the equipment and softly play music for about 45 minutes before heading down to listen.   That said, unplugging the power conditioner would be way more di...
Room treatment-I was afraid of this
I am wondering if anyone has had the opportunity to compare GIK bass traps with and without either the Flexrange Membrane added, or with the Scatterplate added, or with both added.  As stated by someone above, I also love the sound of reflected up...

Before this gets too far away from my question from a few days ago, I just want to thank the people who offered advice.  I found a way to extend my bottom shelf back enough to fit my Furman behind one of my components.  I'll just have to leave the...
power conditioner
I also use Furman power conditioners and they seem to help keep the noise away.  I have not noticed any degradation in sound quality, but if there is any lessening of sound quality it is far less than a small tweak, like upgrading a fuse in one of...

Back in the late 70's/early 80's Sansui was into 4-channel reproduction, and brought out their top-of-the-line model - the Sansui QSD-1.  While there were QS recordings out I never bothered with them because the QSD-1 could synthesize quad reprodu...
