Phono cartridge for classic rock
How about a Decca (London)? The most 'live sounding' cart there is. Great taut bass, rhythm and a misunderstood gem. It doesn't trash your records (at least it hasn't over 30 years with my LPs). I use mine on a Hadcock (it likes damped unipivots) ...
Best tonearm for London Reference Cartridge
I've not used the Reference, but I've had two Deccas since the early 80s. Damped unipivots were the conventional choice; I use a Hadcock. These compensated for the lack of vertical compliance in the Decca design. Air bearing arms should also do th...

Best 3 tube preamps under $18000?
No-one has mentioned the TRON Syren yet. Fabulous tube pre-amp built to order (and hence can be bespoke)by Graham Tricker in the UK (www.tron-electric.co.uk).
Stand out phono stages
Another vote for the TRON Seven (www.tron-electric.co.uk). Built to order by the designer (Graham Tricker) himself - you can have it matched to your pickup. Great build quality and great sound. Jeff at Highwater Sound in NYC distributes in the US.
Avantgarde Uno Nano suitable for small room?
I'd have them along the short wall facing down the length of the room. they aren't near field monitors (say like LS3/5as) and do need space for the horns to integrate with the SW. Don't worry about them being in the corners (I have my Duos in the ...
Upgrade from Audion Phono - please advice
TRON Seven phono. Both the US (Highwater Sound, NYC) and UK distributors of TW use TRON amps and phono stages.
Hovland HP-100 phono vs Audio Research REF Phono 2
Stickman,In the UK, the TRON Seven phono is about GBP 2000. I don't know what Jeff charges though. If you do go back to Jeff in NYC, have a good listen to the TRON amps (pre and power). The Syren tube pre-amp with on board phono is magic. Here's t...

Phono stages belong to which tier?
Another vote for the TRON Seven! Top class sound, great build quality and built to order (can be made bespoke to suit your cart).
Moving into vinyl. Brinkman, TW Raven, GrandPrix??
Maxx,When you get to the top end of TT designs, preference is definitely very personal. Any of the above will give you a really stable platform on which you can let your chosen arm/cart/phono stage sing. In some ways, this is your bigger conundrum...
