78's through the system
I have a Rega 78 for my 78rpm's, and for a second a Garrard 301 with a Grace 747 which has a removable headshell. Both TT's are outfitted with a Goldring G1010 in it's 78rpm version. Both the Rega and the Goldring are real sleepers as they have ser...
A new Audiophile music label, cutting LP's
Phild, I agree with your asessment. PA is following the footsteps of Clarity Audio who put out a good record by a good singer (Mary Stallings). Good as she was it didn't make me want to buy another for $20+ and I never forgot Ella, Billie, or Dina...
Is there a turntable book?
Is there anyone anywhere in audiophivillia that ever disagrees with "Mikey"? Look through any copies of his now defunct magazine THE TRACKING ANGLE and you see a vast sea of gone but never really here anyway artists and grossly overpriced products...
VPI record cleaning system
By all means clean with VPI at the very least. Once the record is clean, it's not necessary to clean everytime before play but it is important to properly store it between each play. Get good inner sleeves ( no easy feat since the rice paper ones ...
Turntable suggestions?
lucishow you are one lucky soul if you got a Rekokut cheap. Weren't they built by Harmon Kardom? The one I'm thinking of was indeed solidly built and had an outstanding tangent tonearm. I think I saw one on ebay last week. I don't remember the cur...
Mofi Returns for What & Why?
Why should we send comments to MD? MD did the survey, they're in the business. I started this thread so that we as consumers can have a discussion so that they can change/modify what appears to me, behavior that will kill all efforts before they s...

Jazz Review: Miles Davis
It is my understanding that Miles Kind of Blue sessions also yielded another jazz gem, Something Else by Cannonball Adderley on Blue Note. If true, then I think we as music fans should occaisionally mention this as it too is a serious piece of wor...
Rodney Crowell, anyone heard the Cicadas?
How about soem more info: when was the Cicadas released and what record company? I'm a Crowell fan too. A suggestion for those who like the current "country" genre, if you don't own a copy of Crowell's Diamonds and Dirt, your education and collect...
Jazz Recommendations
Here are two cd's I love Cannonball Adderley Quintet in San Fransico (OJC) includes a great version of Straight No Chaser as a bonus track and 2)Live In Swing City/ Swinign With The Duke by the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis. I...
Dylan on Drugs ?
Anyone got a World Gone Wrong vinyl? One I missed.
A Moment Of Silence For Waylon Jennings
I came late to the Waylon party. Glad that I didn't miss it entirely. While our hearts our heavy, let our thoughts be light with prayers for Jessi and loved ones. While he was the outlaw he was what appeared to be a rarity in entertainment, a very...
Help pick opening song for my film
Hearts Desire by The Avalons (Unart Records) also covered twice by the Manhatten Transfer. Easily the best love song ever made. Or, a re-record of I Know You by Paul Willaims (Old Fashion Love Song etc). He could never sing, but he could write. Yo...
