| Are ICEpower amps really that good? 06-05-06: Muralman1Tvad, Here is Sacramento. The thing I was complementing was Eldartford's UCD's power supply. It makes all the difference. Gotcha. I agree about the effect of a toroidal power supply. | |
| Are ICEpower amps really that good? I don't know anyone around here that has a UCD amp, only TacT and ICE.Muralman1 (System | Threads | Answers)By "around here" were you referring to Sacramento or Audiogon? Eldartford just said the Channel Islands D200 amps he owns are UcD. | |
| Are ICEpower amps really that good? 06-04-06: Nicksgem10sHi Tvad,Can I ask you what preamp they paired the Nuforce Ref 9.02SE with at the show? I am curious to know. ThanksI believe it was the NuForce P-8 preamp, but I'm not certain. | |
| Are ICEpower amps really that good? There are those of us who like a certain sound quality when we listen, and some who just want to perfectly recreate a studio or concert hall recording, warts and all. Exactly. So, the answer to the question, "Are ICE power amps really that good?",... | |
| Are ICEpower amps really that good? 06-04-06: ArniTvad,I have read an Nuforce owner argue (Audiogon thread) that it was more musical and warmer than the Conrad-Johnson SE60 it replaced. Have you ever listened to an ICE power based amp in direct comparison to the type of amps you bel... | |
| Are ICEpower amps really that good? I believe the answer depends on the type of sound you like. If you prefer detailed, transparent, incisive, dead-neutral and uber-accurate sound, then ICE amps...and many digital (or "non-digital", i.e. NuForce) amps will be perfect for you. | |

| New House, Old Wire If you insist on grounded outlets, I'd recommend wiring only the plugs you intend to use for your stereo (one two-plug box should do it in an apartment). Doing so will reduce the cost, and keep relations positive with your landlord. | |
| Long interconnect or short Speaker Cables 06-03-06: SdcampbellMitch 2 is correct in his point that if you get Alpha-Core Goertz speaker cables, you should plan to insert a Zobel network on each speaker terminal. You can buy high quality resistors and capacitors from several online electro... | |
| rotel rb1090 or odyssey stratos mono extremes I have used Odyssey Mono Extremes with a Lamm LL2 Deluxe, and it is very nice indeed. Transparent without excessive brightness. Personally, I would not use a solid state preamp with the Odysseys. | |
| Grateful for Audiogon Lacivious was the lascivious Latin leerer. | |
| Home Entertainment Show in Los Angeles The loudspeakers in the Berning/Stillpoints room were Peak Consult InCognito X. Terrific sounding room.John Atkinson liked the room a lot. He also liked the Gamut room. It's nice to have one's ears validated by a pro. :)Stereophile Show Report. | |
| Comparisons of Audience and VH Flavor 1 PC's Thanks, Bon. That pretty much covers the bases. | |
| WILSON AUDIO/ cost vs. value I also thought the Wilson room featuring the WP8 sounded very, very good. The state-of-the-art Audio Research amplification/preamplification didn't hurt, either. They used a selection of music that I suspect lended itself to the speaker's strength... | |
| Home Entertainment Show in Los Angeles Just returned. Honestly, it made me appreciate what I already own.A few highlight rooms: Lamm, Acapella, Audio Aero, Wilson, Berning (don't remember the speaker brand, but they were very nice). Honorable mention to the Gamut room for having a tran... |
