Window Treatments to Remove reflected sound
Tuning dots, if they work like drum head dampers, reduce vibration and ring. Sort of like when you lightly touch a ringing wine glass. Depending on how softly or firmly you touch the glass, the ringing will be reduced or eliminated. At least that's...
Will computer to DAC replace transports and cdp's?
By burning a cd might add some colourity to the sound.Just my thought.Jeremy (System | Threads | Answers)This is at the core of the RealityCheck CD burner controversy. Burning copies would indeed seem to vary the sound of the original, with the re...

02-14-06: NewlyI think that the Phi integrated never can reach the level obtained with this comboNewly Then, this thread is concluded? You've decided, apparently.BTW, which combo?
Bargain interconnects to tame treble & boost bass?
I'll bow out, Jpbach, but at some point when you have a minute, please explain why you don't want to consider EQ. I won't be offended. I'd just like to better understand your reasons.FWIW, when I had the same problem as you are hearing, I tried th...
Window Treatments to Remove reflected sound
It's hard to tell what the Marigo dots are made of, but for substantially less than $79, I'd suggest experimenting with several sizes of felt chair feet and flat rubber "bumpers" available for about $3.00/sheet at Home Depot and other hardware sto...

02-13-06: EldartfordTvad's suggestion for the Audio Control C-101 Equalizer is good if you can get it for anything like $30. Don't forget that you will need to add a calibration microphone to fully utilize the C-101. I'm not sure what kind of mic ...
How come there is no thread on the RealityCheck?
Fiddler, thanks for confirming what I suspected was the truth. It's clear to me having done a little homework, that George's duplicator at $575 isn't that far off in price from the two other Plextor 716A duplicators I have found for $444 and $349.9...

02-13-06: Dennis_the_menacei think dynamic peaks also play a role. you may be listening to 100db, but when the orchestra hits a forza, it's not just 100db, it's ++ so much more.I initially was going to go into this, too, but when I'm talking about...

Fabric of any sort is better than anything else. Long, too, like to the floor.
Clever Little Clock - high-end audio insanity?
Oy.
Bargain interconnects to tame treble & boost bass?
Jpbach, I've gone down the road you're on. None of the interconnects are going to do what the Audio Control C-101 will do, and a C-101 purchased used on E-Bay will cost you less. The Audio Control C-101 flat out works, and will fit nicely in your s...

Just reporting what's published, Ethannnn...Of course, a speaker's resistance plays a part, too.My limited experience at home with a Bryston 4B SST, Bryston 14B SST and VAC Phi 110/110 and VS VR4 Gen III HSE speakers (89dB/1 watt/1 meter, 6 ohm no...

An Audio Control C-101 Equalizer will take care of your problem. I owned one when I had some Bryston gear, and it worked great.
VAC Phi integrated or 1 preamp + 1 amplifier
The only concern left is, can your speakers can be driven by 110 watts?A friend and I were recently discussing this. My speakers are 89dB/1 watt/1 meter. Every doubling of the wattage adds 3dB to any speaker (from "The Complete Guide to High End A...
