Just made my first 2 transactions on Audiogon
As a follow-up to my previous post. If $200 is indeed your total budget, I'd strongly consider the MAS Black or MAS Gray interconnects, and Canare StarQuad 4S11 speaker cable from www.Markertek.com. At $.69 a foot for the StarQuad, you get a blind...
Looking for new TV under $2K
I agree with Chaskelljr2001 about the CRT. Sony TV's have great pictures, and I own two, but I have had miserable luck with the sound crapping out on two out of four Sony TV's I have owned, including my top-of-the-line 32" XBR circa 1999. For this...

Is your budget $200 for interconnects and speaker cables? If so, SignalCable may be your best bet. Look for used stuff first. Also, if you can stretch your budget just a little, MAS Black and MAS Gray interconnects from Stu Wein of Audioparts Inc....
Greatest rhythm sections
Onhwy61, nice choice. Manu Katche is incredibly talented, and while I can't comment directly on Pino Palladino, I saw the first show he did at the Hollywood Bowl with the Who after John Entwistle (spelling?) died and Pino did an outstanding job wi...

Rosstaman, you made a great call with the Talking Heads. The rhythm section of that band surely was a major influence in their fresh sound. Right on the money with the topic of this thread!
Greatest rhythm sections
Gosh, Mejames, guess the thread's over.I agree with you, by the way. It just seemed too obvious.
Greatest rhythm sections
Stewart Copeland and Sting provided a fresh sound (especially Copeland's drumming)that surely helped define the "Police" and separate them from the crowd.
The Best Inexpensive Wines Available Now
Estancia Merlot is excellent. The previously mentioned Lindeman's Cabernet is a good choice. Lots of good values among Australian and Chilean reds."Two Buck Chuck", or Charles Shaw Cabernet Sauvignon, is swill, IMHO, and not even fit for cooking, ...
Stereo system Too Bright
To echo Chris' comments, I'll share my encapsulated audiophile journey which began about a year and a half ago. I also believed my system to be "bright". Today, nothing of what I originally purchased remains in my system. The idea of selling it al...
Phillips 1000 APL mod
John, would you go into more detail about what you heard? The term "musicality" can mean vastly different things to different people. To some this would mean a slightly rolled-off tone, and to others it might mean lots of air and detail. Please be...
Phillips 1000 APL mod
Yes, lots of interesting info and discussion regarding APL at http://www.audiocircle.com/circles/viewforum.php?f=71Thanks for the heads up.
Phillips 1000 APL mod
Slightly tangetial to your question...I have tried e-mailing Alex (APL) two times with no response from him, and I tried calling once (phone rang off the hook during business hours posted on the APL website). Anyone know the secret password for ge...
